Hey Jim, Man i'm not sure anymore ?? Would like to stay away from Dodge trans.. But it will be an auto as i want to use this cruiser as my highway truck.
A good friend just offered me an Allison trans from a 2004 Duramax ( New one too ) so i'm trying to find info on that ????

How is your'e 40 ??

Subscribed! I just read through this whole thread and all I can say is WOW! Your work is top notch.
As far as trannys go, have you thought about trying to get a hold of the dodge five speed manual that was used with the cummins? They're not nearly as common as the auto but they are out there. I would stay away from the autos dodge used, they've never been very reliable.

I got a little mixed up there. Someone already mentioned it but it is the NV4500 that dodge used. My bad

No worries mate !!

as for a t-case , you can easily adapt an orion to the nv4500 but im not sure if it will survive with this big engine

atlas is maybe a better choice , you will need a centered rear end like a dana 60 or a 14 bolt to match this t-case and the torque of your cummins:hillbilly::smokin:

Yeah, i hear ya..
I think i'm gonna try and find an older 4x4 with a NV4500HD and all the works with maybe a blow motor for all the right parts..
Diffs, transfer, etc. I dont wanna half ass it, input from everyone here points me in a different direction that i thought i could go.

In the meantime, maybe some diesel porn ??? ( sorry 4 crappy pic )3B,2H and a Cummins

That's what I did and it really makes the swap easier, all the parts are right there for you to use.

I went with a 14 bolt over the D70 though, because they are easier to work on and I can grab spares all over the place where I live.

Is the 14 Chevy ?? Like i said, i'm new he,he

Yeah, they put it under everything so they can usually be had for super cheap.

I picked mine up for $150

Stevo, how wider is that diff compared to a yota 60 axle and what diff you useing up front of that badboy ?? :grinpimp:

Are you talking overall axle width?
If so my front and rear axles are both 67" WMS-WMS
I can't remember the stock toy widths, I think up front it might be 60.5 and 58 out back for the Toyota stuff.

I have a Dodge Dana 60 up front.

Thanks Stevo, your help is needed indeed..

Well, again plans change or should i say put on hold. :bang:

The Cummins is on hold for now at least in this frame, the thing is it was built for and ready for the Yota diesel. Fitting the Cummins in this frame would be a major waste of time and money since all brakes, drums, disc, gears, spring, etc, are all finished, painted and ready to roll, So.... :steer:
I have decided to put my 2H in her for now which will give me the chance to finish the in and out and ride her a bit while sizeing the engine and readying her to maybe go in my 40 at some point. :grinpimp:

It will also give me a chance to collect all the proper parts for the Cummins project and do it right, lets be honest here if i have this motor in a highway rig, you can bet i'm gonna want it to PERFORM !! :steer:
I got the dash torn down to use all the wires from the 2H and soundproof the thing, its gonna have good sound, and got the engine apart to paint, clutch it, etc.......

Its always nice when it's beer thirty.

The new direction is cool, not as cool as the 6BT though. :D
Nice work on that interior too. Hopefully it will be nice and quiet for you.
