Enjoyed reading your thread wish I didn't have a two day drive every time I wanted to visit your part of the country. I'll do it again this year but in the mean time I'll read this thread.

My Son-in-law, in Austin, TX, voices the same wishes. We have a lot of fun, when he's here, but it's not often enough!!

What a boring week it must have been for Gunner.................

You have no idea...

But, he'd better get all the rest he can now... 'cuz after we pick up Sir Windsor Chesterfield (a.k.a. Chester), in Texas next month, Sgt Gunner won't get a lot of downtime... nor will Danny...

Introducing... Chester!!!

Before marriage and those little people who trash a nice clean house (the people we call our kids) I used to have a lab mix ... Loved that dog ... Camping... Cruising ... Hanging out

Your pictures bring back very fond memories of my 'Jake'

Jake however didn't wear shoes... He loved his sweaters :)

Enjoying the read... Thanks !

Its an old 22 gal tank - similar to an old Conferr, but not Confer... could be home/custom made or could be an old Aero. I bought it from Georg (@orangefj45). It doesn't have a bevel on the back, so some would be worried about the departure angle... doesn't worry me.

Tank weighs about 40lbs, skid plate weighs about 55lbs.

Here's a pic that Georg sent me - I made a few changes, cut the skid plate down, cleaned it up and painted it and glued some open-cell foam spacers to the top - to keep the sender from shorting out on the tub.

Here's the back - no bevel. I use the hitch (sans ball) as a small step.

Thanks Johnny!

The talus is so sharp here that Gunner can't hike for long without shoes - generally helps with cactus too, but I have had to pull a number of spines. I always have hydrogen peroxide and neosporin with me ... for both of us.

Don't let the kids keep you from having a dog - they should benefit from the enjoyment as well!!

...and... I always told my Daughters that I would get rid of them before I got rid of my dog... now that they are both in their 40s, they've come to realize I was never kidding...

The kids did for a few years ... There was some overlap... 'Jake' came along for that ride as well :)

I guess I should have put it that I had 'got' a dog before getting married...

Had to put him down 5? Or so years ago... Basically 1/2 my kids life ago lol if that makes sence

That was very hard to do... Very sad... Still sad ... Very emotional

Never want to do that again for sure... Good thing is that my youngest son is alergic to dogs now (guess I can say that lol)... So they are all ok with just seeing a dog now and again... I honestly do not think I can do it again

I will keep my buddy Jake in memory and I'll meet him on the other side of the rainbow bridge :)

I'll need to be ready with a napkin... He'll probably pee with excitement as usual :meh: LOL

I had to put Mr Parker down... July 11th, 2014 was a very sad day. He was 12.5yrs old and Gunner's Uncle and a very special dog!! He was a 100 pounder.

This is his last morning - with a basketball sized sarcoma on his back - he told me it was time...

We've had a number of Golden Retrievers - all wonderful... and it's always difficult...

But, I wouldn't miss it for the world... being primarily a loner, I spend a lot of time with my boys... I can never replace Mr Parker... just like I could never replace the many that came before him... they all have their own personality... but, we're anxious to pick up Chester next month and start building a new relationship with him and between him and Sgt Gunner!!!

I would have to agree with you Danny about always having pets. I grew up always having a dog around (barn cats too). Almost all those dogs were medium size, Cocker Spaniel size, dogs. Then about twelve years ago we got started with Boxers. I'M HOOKED! A year ago we lost our first Boxer. She had just turned 11, old for a Boxer. In my avatar are our next two Boxers at a very much younger age. Jasper, the big male is about 9 now, showing a lot of grey now, still a big pup at heart, and 90+ pounds of pure muscular energy. The pup in the picture is Rhaine (rainy). She is about 8 now and 60 pounds. Not in the picture is their last pup, Jazzy. She is a flashy fawn also, about 1 1/2 years old, and extremely full of energy.

Good looking Boxers , Don!!

Well, I got the Power Steering Gearbox re-sealed and reinstalled and all is good again in the world of Power Steering. :)

I also drained the brake fluid and replaced the soft brake lines, while the steering was down. I haven't yet been able to fully bleed the brakes... My cheap Harbor Freight bleeder vacuum pump can only do so much... But, I got on Dianna's schedule for early tomorrow morning

I bought new $9.95 mirrors from CruiserCorps - I didn't want OEM because they are said to crack so quickly and we get a little sun in Vegas. I really like the view in them... Much clearer than the old mirrors. And the look jus like the old mirrors.

But, they are $9.95 mirrors... :rimshot: The socket on the back was too small for the ball... I heated the ball a bit, with a heat gun and then heated the socket and formed my own socket. I'll see how long they last.

Belachelijk That truck looks too clean, like never been taken off road

I was replying to another thread and realized I failed to document that when I installed my aux tank, I moved my hitch receiver to the front bumper. If I ever buy a winch, I will use a hitch receiver mount. I re-installed the hitch that came with 44 and removed the ball - poor picture, but you can see my new 'step' below

"...but my picture taking is superb!!"

I'm confused...lol

You're confused?!?

My "but my picture taking is superb!!" statement was said tongue-in-cheek!!

...and I have the pictures to prove it!!!

Gunner gets really tried of posing... if you zoom in, you will often see a :(
