Because I fit a 75 dash, I lost some in-cab space, and myself being a somewhat taller guy, I had to make a plan for some more cab space. Then I came across a thread or two about extended cab 45's and I got my answer..

A perfect rust free cab..

Took it apart and marked it..

Took a deep breath, and started the grinder..

Made some 'extension' boxes, roughly 10 inches, and put the backpiece back. Didn't come out to bad..

A windhoek will go down rather well, Pbg. Lekker, Tjomma!
Tooheys, I cut the complete 45 series dash out. Then I've cut about 2 inches of off the rear of the 75's dash, and welded a smallish angle iron 2 inch x 1 inch on at the back. To fit it to the 45's tub, I made some side mounting plates with 5mm hole drilled to it. Fitted the dash to the tub via rivnuts.
Clint, Just trying my best buddy. Thanks for the compliment.

whats the wheelbase? looks great on the cab cut.

fun build up. You will dig the extra cab, well worth the work. Mine was built the other way: cutting down an FJ40 body, and lengthening the frame. drivetrain is 350/nv4500/Orion. Wheelbase is a tad long at 119 i think. Can't remember. Maybe it was 125. It was long. But still wheeled Rubicon and such quite nicely.

what size tire you running? im alittle worried mine will be too long and low on 37s

Wheelbase came out at 116 inches. Might be a bit long, but should be working ok with 37'' tyres.. I'm planning to build myself a serious play rig later this year so I'm not to worried about this 45's wheelbase.
Gifu, the problem here in South Africa is that FJ40's are real REAL scarce. Guys are importing 40's from Oz, just to own one. 45's are not to difficult to get so it was the easier option to chop. My dad has a 75 series pick up that was converted to an extra cab, and seeing how much he enjoys the extra bit of cab makes me confident that I'll also enjoy mine..
