winch.jpg

Picked up an 8500 LB Ramsey winch, now I need to modify/fabricate some sweet front bumper action.

The new clutch master.

The new slave cylinder and rubber line.
P2220165.jpg

Today I didn't have to work due to materials not arriving as they should have, so I redid two of my knobs (the easy ones to do), and I worked on my catamarans trampoline also restoring an old Taft cat to use this summer, the cruiser will be pulling it around.

This weekend I will be drawing up a plan for a winch bumper in the front utilizing what I already have, and devising a plan to get rid of my SOR rear bumper which is not hi-lift jack friendly, as well as mounting up my hi-lift jack somewhere and replacing the broken stud on the tire carrier (going to have to cut the welds and reweld it).

OT, but what kind of cat do you have? Hobie 14T and 18 sailor here...

I have a Taft 16ft, bought it last fall as a project and haven't had it on the water yet, how do you like your Hobie cats?

Knobs are looking pretty good I think (choke cable is goofed up and have a weber carb currently, will replace when I get a new aisin carb)

Starting mocking up the winch location tonight, I will be stopping by the metal supply tomorrow to get some steel to make the mount, since it has a saginaw ps conversion I cannot toss it inbetween the channels. :( So will have to fab up some sort of guard for it.
P2240171.jpg

P2240172.jpg

Also this is IMHO not ideal, so I will be gutting it out making some new wires and mounting it's guts under the hood.

Parts.

So the studs on my rear tire carrier were old and deteriorated, not good. If anyone else that reads this has removed this piece to replace the studs you understand the PITA that it really is.

Picked up some stainless hardware to use in making a mount for my HI-Lift jack.

Was a relief all the screws came out easy, will be all replaced with stainless hardware.

On the soft top I have the rear was originally sealed with velcro, and well the velcro is no longer functioning.... So I think I found a solution, going to rivet snaps to the removable panel.

I will be finishing up these small projects tomorrow, it got late tonight and I called it a night, also need some steel...

Ok so today I actually did some work. Opinions on what I am doing with my bumper would be acceptable.

I would have more done, but I have been multitasking two projects.(Car isn't mine, I sold mine awhile back, but still build em once in awhile)

Glad the road trip went well!

That is a mean looking front bumper! I have the saginaw conversion as well, so I am thinking about going with the Warn 8274 so I could fit it between the channels, as most of the guts to it are on the left side.

I still need to smooth out some of the welds to make it look like one cool piece, I also made a mount for my hi-lift jack. I still need to gut the controller box and waterproof the solenoids and mount em under hood and wire up the winch, but that is much easier than fabricating a bumper and winch channel.

Went out to the shop today and found my brother lounging.

Was driving around in the snow today and pulled out 4 cars from the ditch.:p
Also picked up a couple jerry cans an estwing axe to keep in the cruiser and a tree strap.

Also almost done with the kitchen remodel/addition just need to find a few strong hands to lift up the beast of a granite island top.

So today was pretty nice out so I went for a drive up to huntersville state forest and drove around on the trails for an hour or so.

The crack in the windshield happened the other day when I was blowing out some snow with the snow blower....Derp...

My brother shot a video also, I will post a link to it as soon as it is done loading to the youtubes.

Well as cool as rocking out to ear buds is, I have purchased a solution for some tunes!
P3140294.jpg

P3140296.jpg

P3140297.jpg

I will still be using my phone/mp3 player as a tune source amplified through 4 6.5" speakers, the reason I chose this system is first it is waterproof, and second if someone peers in there is no head unit to attract undesirables that would want to steal the head unit. Will be figuring out mounting and all that tomorrow.

Great pics!

Now paint the bezel white, cygnus white. You will not be disappointed.

Looks good

1. Paint bezel white
2. Careful where you place wire with that cheap amplifier. Brands as cheap as Pyle are notorious for their noise. There's a reason why it's call "Pyle". Make sure you do not run your speaker output wire along side the power wire and it may work out. In all honesty, that amplifier has the same output as a typical head unit except a typical head unit has better quality with a softer start up. Just my 2 cents.

I used the same setup in a Nissan 300ZX with 2 amps hooked in series 1 for the front speakers and another amp for a pair of 10" subs. It sounded great and most people would look confused when they noticed I didn't have a head unit! Haha

Btw 1 of the amps was two channel with an additional channel being a low level output. So, low level out to low level in on the second which posted the subs.
