New Tach is in

Finished installing the recalibrated Tach. Redline Gaugeworks did it for us. I used the existing cannon plugs to make the connections for the light and the 12v supply. I only had to run the Tach wire from the ECU inside. Very easy and worth the wait.

Cool, but how high can the vortec rev?

I thought it could go higher.

It will go higher but the ECU won't let it peg past 5 if programmed to do so. So the gauge will work. If you red line it you don't need to drive.:grinpimp:

Aww it's a big V8. come onnnnnnn :D

Nice Look with the new meats

MrZero, let me know if you need an H55 shifter knob. I swapped mine out for a newer one (from a 70 series) and have my old one available.

Update

Drove her on Saturday. Need to do some adjustments on the shift linkage and the clutch. SHE HAS NUTZ!!! Will get final pics and a good driving report I will be delivering her to MrZero hopefully this weekend. Although I would like to take her to the meet on the 19th just to show off, but I know MrZero has a taste for V-8:grinpimp:

I'm thinkin' you need to "find" some issues so it has to stay until the next LSLC meeting on the 19th so ya' can show it off...........

You know it...I may still need that 40 rod just hadn't been able to get a break. I still got the PM though. Maybe MrZero wants to attend:idea: Even though his local chapter will want to see it I am sure.

Chad has it, call him, he's not far from you at all work or home either........

:confused:I reckon I should have shipped the damn thing, but I figure I got as much time to ship as you do to pick it up......:grinpimp::grinpimp::flipoff2::flipoff2:

Vortec thread

Randy, just got around to reading the entire Vortec thread. way to go. proud of ya (Randy is MY mechanic). you have really made your mark yourself in this Cruiser community. great thread. nice how you documented it and shared your experiences with so many. I see you doing this for me someday. just hope its not soon! because I can't afford it yet!

Thanks Chris
I know you will get into the vortec bug once the 2f goes south. But that will be a few years from now. Seeing as how you have a great mechanic keeping up with her. :grinpimp:See you on Sunday.

I am always available!! It just depends on what you want to put in to it. I get with the prospective Vortec Junkie and get a feel for what they want, then we go from there. I e-mail the general list of parts that will be required and you have it delivered to my house and I build them. And a little labor $$ for me.

Shoot me an email @ randy@rtcustoms.net or my home email waltersuttles@msn.com I will get you the list for the conversion parts. Yes the drive train holds up very well and have had no problems with it. The mileage should be close to what the factory setup was running. around 20 mpg going with the 5 speed is a must for highway cruisin though. You can use a 700R4 but everyone is different. And I work them first in first out and do one at a time. Hope you get the bug.
