Hey everyone ! just bought my first cruiser, a 1993 with 260k, new paint, pretty bad interior and not triple locked for 6800. Drives good, no rust California truck.. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK, is that about par for the course or overpaid / underpaid? hard to get a sense compared with some of these more exotic rigs. Let me know!! happy to be here

wow great to hear you think so !! Ill probably hold onto it for a while and sink ungodly amounts of money into it that I will never see again, but if I ever go to sell ill be feeling good. these are such cool trucks, I see why everyone is so excited about them.
I dont think it was listed anywhere, I ran into the owner who mentioned he was thinking of selling. why you ask?
I think once covid runs its course prices will start to drop. just my 2 cents.
I think sky rocketing gas prices will get there first, IMO. It happened in 2007+ when people had to decide to fill their tank for the work commute or pay the mortgage. There has definately been a covid spike though which combined with historical low fuel prices has fed into the current rise in prices. They will go down, but will rebound if the oil futures go back down, but that will take a change in current political leadership.

There are several big name insurance companies like USAA, Geico, State Farm that have a feature that gives you back 20% more than the assessed value of your 80 LC In the event your rig is deemed a total loss. Of course, you have to pay for that extra feature. Mine is about 50 bucks every 6 months but well worth it w the value of 80s continuing to climb.

KBB is really irrelevant when purchasing a used Toyota or Lexus. It is really a starting point. Most good used Toyota product gets passed down to family or sold to friend. If it reaches the market it is sold very quickly. As far as insurance values, I keep full coverage on my 05 LC with 73k miles. Agent addressed this issue with me by saying that the adjusters are very fair and use the internet to find similar units for sale. She said it is such a rare occurrence that the companies don't mind being more generous on low mile specialty vehicles as claims are rare due to the ownership profiles.
Again, great insight! This was my one concern before buying and now I feel alot more comfortable.

the plan was to not spend more than 12-13 on something 3x locked, lower 200's decent paint (about a month ago it was possible) doesn't seem like that anymore.

So get something without lockers. You can add them later, I legitimately do not understand this thought process.
Your expectations are unrealistic given the current market. If you want to give up and get a Jeep though, that's on you.
Have you friend Facebook market place? For some reason I see a lot pop up on there. Seems that you should be able to find something reasonable for that price.

$13K will get you into a solid axle 22RE 1st Gen 4Runner with most of its interior panels intact.
