This seems to be a pretty good guide from what I have seen over the last few months. One man's perspective for FZJ80's:
$25k: <200k miles and great condition, 3x Locked, No rust. Here's one that just sold in average state for this price: Link
$18k: >200k miles and average condition, 3x Locked, minimal rust
$12-$14k: Bad shape (but 3x locked)
Adjustments:
If not 3x locked --> take off $5k
If rust --> take off $3-6k (depending on how bad)
If major repair issues need to be addressed: estimate cost, take off 50% x estimate. --> someone will pay to have it done, but others will wrench on it themselves. E.g. If you need $4k of work, I'd take $2k off the price.
If undesirable modifications -- no change, or less
If desirable modifications (OME 2.5", KO2's, ARB Bumper, etc) --> add + 1/2 x the cost of modifications. E.g. if you add $10k to build-it-out, that adds $5k to resale price.
TLDR for 3x FZJ80:
High: $25k - $30k
Low: $12-$15k
Exceptions:
- $80k -- freak event for 40k miles 3x locked 40th anniversary (you know the one)
- $5k -- unlocked FJ80 (91-92), or FZJ80 with rust or >$300k miles w/0 lockers.
Caveat: Just an opinion, so 100% open to alternative views on this. Price is a fickle thing...
Thanks

The prices at auctions lately have really skyrocketed recently.
I agree that the 3x locker adds to value of an 80 series, but low miles stock well serviced vehicles rule. Lockers can be added later, but there is no substitute for low miles on any vehicle's resale. When clean 125k mile cruisers are hitting above $32.5k without lockers that's where the escalation has begun. I am not noticing any penalty for the earlier obd1(93-94) models either.
Personally I like the cloth seats and no airbags with the full float rear axles with disc brakes and ABS on my 11/94 build date Landcruiser. At this point in time, all cruisers in the 80 series will have to be baselined because of the age of the rubber and plastic parts that can be replaced anyway.
As for insurance pay outs in case of a totalled vehicle, most insurance companies can be negotiated before hand on an agreed upon value, but you will pay more in premiums.
I'm not sure about that. A California locked 64k mile LX450 just for 31k on BAT. I actually communicated with that seller on here 2-3 months ago and he was asking $55k for it during our email exchanges. I offered him 30-35k for it in our email exchanges back in December (just checked).
Looks like he did not get what he wanted. If he would of told me 32k via email I would of bought it from him and saved him the headache of BAT fees and the time... He should of just been honest with me and gave me a realistic price. Guess greed gets to people..
I saw that one on BAT and at 64K miles and sold for $31k, but it was a Lexus. If it would have had the landcruiser on the back then it would have sold for the higher price. It's crazy to think that a Toyota would have higher resale than the Lexus for basically the same vehicle, but that's what's going on now. The 1994 LC with 124k miles and no lockers sold for $32,500. So double the miles and no locker sold for more than the Lexus. It's the Toyota tax.I'm not sure about that. A California locked 64k mile LX450 just for 31k on BAT. This 97 LC with 183k miles is coming up next. It's crazy how the last 30 minutes will bump prices up by a lot.

That’s clearly a flipper who didn’t do much, if any baseline work. This one only got up to 20K with reserve not met. I'm guessing it's the two tone color, but it seems that BAT is being bombarded by 80 series owner's looking to cash in.

To be fair, the paint on a lot of the 64k mile LX450 was trashed. The seller is not very smart thinking he could cash in at over $50k for a truck with bad paint, no matter how low the mileage is. These trucks just aren’t at that point yet and probably never will be.I'm not sure about that. A California locked 64k mile LX450 just for 31k on BAT. Looks like the Land Cruiser name still holds more value than an LX450.
What is the consensus view on what the LX discount is - either % or $??Looks like the Land Cruiser name still holds more value than an LX450.
