Happy belated Johnny

I have found that old age, experience and treachery overcome youth, skill and vitality

btw, love that avatar pic of the hounds

RTH!!!!

Everything was going fine. Went out for a drive this morning, then pulled onto my pad. I walked inside, then came out to find my leaf springs and tires had fallen off!! How could this happen?!?

Fitup and how I left her for the day. I am SO glad I bought a plasma earlier this year.

Cool. Great start. I will be curious what shocks you use. My Bilsteins are totally inadequate to control those heavy springs.

Well s***, that's what I was going to use. Have them on the shelf and everything, from last time I had them on Moonshine 2.5 years ago. What are you running now?

Sitting on the springs now. I think I've gained some height, but it's hard to say, because I'm dumb and forgot to take a before measurement

I'm happy with the shackle angle, what say you Mud?

That looks great. Put 500 pounds in the back and look at your angles before final welding, but it looks really good.

I have Bilstein 5125s that are not up to the job. I've been meaning to research better alternatives. Radflos look tempting but hard to justify on a truck used just a few times per year. I'm hoping you will come up with a good bolt in solution!

Johnny, you're not dumb, you're just getting old :). They look like some seriously beefy springs.

10-4, will do buddy. Thank you

I have done a bunch of research into better shocks, but everything is expensive. Radflow makes some that would likely work well, but we're talking 2x the price per shock for a pair of 5125s. Fox, King and all of them make nice shocks too, but they're all $$$. Bilstein 7100s would work well also, but they're in the same price range as the others.

I'm going to use 5125s in the rear for now. 5125s will be better than no shocks at all  I have to replace the fronts first, so the front will get some nice shocks first, then the rear will follow.

Without a rear swaybar I've found the same to be true in my setup. The 5125 just aren't stiff enough. I was planning on converting to some 7100s with stiffer valving and will have to convert sometime this year as my driver side rear is giving up its vitals through a leaking shaft seal. My front 7100s feel like they control pretty well but I'm open to other brands that do a good job as well.

I'm just about to replace my shocks on Tencha .. and out of ProComps ( coz they are dirt cheap ) I have no clue what other option could be an " option " without imminent bankrupt

Maybe that's the ticket, putting an anti-sway bar on with some 5125s. This sway bar kit is $500, but it should never need to be replaced, so over the lifetime of the truck, it'd be cheaper than nice shocks.

Do you know if the ProComps are any stiffer than the Bilstein 5125s?

NO clue .. never had a pair of Bilstein to compare .. but pretty sure must be some mud fellow that had both ..

The rear procomps I have ( 9000 series ) do a decent job ..

How would you mount the antiroc?
Bar framemounted in the rear, arms facing forward, slightly down, to allow up travel?
It seems to me, these swaybars travel to easily, making them not very efficient at cornering, but stabilizing in off camber situations...

We are on the same page in terms of mounting my friend. Maybe that wouldn't work that well for on-road applications, need to do some more reading.

Finished up the springs last night, but didn't take any finished pics because my phone sucks. Also had to change my tailpipe, so the big chrome tip is gone.

She looks to have gained a little bit of height, but like an idiot, I forgot to take a before measurement, so judge for yourself.

Then proceeded to do the tailpipe. Salvage from the old:

Seems that my phone is doing green now instead of pink.

You can just see where the tailpipe comes out:
