Parts Update
No real physical progress today
Received my recurve dizzy from Jim C
Ordered the balance of hydraulic fittings and cooler from Service Center and PSC for my HA ram. Talked to Cruiser Dan and ordered rear DS hardware and pinion nuts for the output flanges at the front end. Now I'm looking for a pulley to use on the Saginaw PS unit. Really would like a wide belt pulley from a Volvo but having trouble in my neck of the woods.

More Front End Work
Received Dave 4+ HD relay rod, so I was able to install and start to button up the front end. Installed the pitman arm on the steering box and adjusted HA ram for stroke. Trimmed u-bolts and torqued to 105 lbs. Cleared out engine bay of extraneous PS hoses etc. in prep for cooler, fittings and hose arrival.

I say again: No longer accurate to call it the "Mojave Suspension System Build Thread". Must be renamed to "Mojave Suspension System is on there somewhere underneath all these clean and shiny parts that make this system look just like what other systems would look like if the devil himself spawned off some weird Frankenstein suspension on steroids and crack-cocaine at the same time" thread.

Tomorrow will go get he pulley for Sag pump. After that I'm kinda in a holding pattern until the remainder of the parts get here Hopefully this coming week. There is no big things left except wheels and tires, at least right now
I want to do 4:11 R&P and lockers but will wait until my "program manager" provides funding

Saginaw PS Pump
Went to Grainger and purchased the appropriate pulley and taper shaft collar for Sag pump. Pulley width about as close to stock size as one can get, pulley diameter is approximately 4.9" so a little under driven so should work well at lower RPM's.
Not a lot of room left between fan blade tips and nut heads on collar. Going to relieve the fan blade just a little to give me some breathing room.:Would like more room but down to the millimeters as far as making all fit and line-up well. cheers:

How much was the Grainger setup? There is a correct Alum pulley (also 4+) avail for about $100, I think, from MAF

$50.00 But the 4+/ MAF set-up is for keyed shafts only. This is an early 77' Sag pump 3/4" press fit shaft with metric pressure output hose same as Toyota (16mm). The later models you have to make up custom hoses. No real trade off In $ guess.

Minor Details
Installed some of the small parts after painting standard semi-black
Final adjustment of pulley of Sag pump and is ready to run, just need all the little fittings from Surplus Center and PSC. Also noted one thing that is a little disturbing at this point After prepping the pinion output flange for the front axel DS, I noted that the pinion output has play side to side and a little front to back
I know this should not be even without the flange on
There is not that much use on that front R&P considering it's age so not sure why it's going Now I have to make $$$ decisions. I have a good 3rd from another set of 60 axels I've been sitting on (3:73's). So now in order to get my rig up and running soon I have to tear the front end down AGAIN, just did it about 6mos ago slip in the 3rd and call it good for now and slowly rebuild the 3rd's I have THEN do the whole thing, R&P & lockers and re-install the 3rd's AGAIN down the road. Well going to make some calls today, see what rebuilt 3rd's cost me or do it myself? Keep you all posted...

Without the companion flange tightened on there it will have lots of play. Install the flange, tighten back to spec and see where you're at. If there's any play you likely need a new crush sleeve (not a bad idea to replace anyways).
a cheap easy fix is put a pinion shim under the crush sleeve and re-torque..

After thinking about it I decided to go after the complete spare 60 front axel I have, can't say real enjoyable but oh well Got it stripped down and got the 3rd member out of it Now the pinion shaft on this 3rd is nice and tight even without the companion flange on it. Does not show wear on R&P : So I'm a little confused about play on the shaft with or without the output flange on I agree with you BC40 I thought the shaft would have some play without the flange in place but this other 3rd is tight? One better than the other? Guess I can install the flange and re-torque the pinion nut and see. If all else fails I have the other 3rd ready to go. If I have to use this next stock 3rd then I can buy some time before I jump into diff rebuilds front and back. This way my "program manager" won't kill me, well, at least not sooner than I planned

Why not just throw a new crush sleeve and seal in there? I ended up having to do that on my truck after replacing the flange since the old crush sleeve was knackered. easy enough.

That's a thought Rover, but since I have a good 3rd and I've been in the front axel so many times it will prolly be faster to pull the birfs and slide in the 3rd than trying to figure how to get the preload on a new crush sleeve from outside the vehicle. Plus, now it will give me an excuse to finally learn to set up a diff and put all the goodies in the 3rd I want My plan will be all new bearings, seals, solid pinion spacer etc., Aussie locker and new 4:11 R&P all topped off with a set of 30 spline Longfields. Since already done the 2lo mod, now I will have the poor mans selectable
