Wait meth?!?! you guys always told me it was rock candy and the reason why i was up all night clawing my skin off was because sugar high and ticks...

Not cool!

That explains why, despite flossing, all my teeth fell out.

We will attend whichever week has the most wheelers there, neither of has has put in for vacation time yet.

Going to scuff the new shoes on New Year's Day at Washita. It's been a while since we have been there.

I'm just here to help & share my wisdom with the little ones. They are our future you know.

High quality, low production is always best!
And the 1st one is always free!

That's how we get ya!!

I literally stole candy from Tom's daughter. And our group is from the murder capitol of the nation.

So, looks like 9-12 people?

I assumed Dana and Jackie are going...?

I assumed Tom and Tony are a maybe.

I assumed Bill and Vickie will stay with us...?

Looks like Moab will be the first week, at least.

Thoughts?

We would love to stay with you if we can
The biggie is we may end up have to sleep in the yard in a tent cause of the dog unless pets allowed. He'll be on a leash. We will do whatever we have to o_O

We will probably attend the first week. But we aren't sure what days we will do where. Thinking to meander out doing some sight seeing in Colorado before we get to Moab and then driving straight through back

John John, typically how long of a drive is it on the roads in Moab to get to the trails?

The farthest we will likely go is to the Gemini Bridges trail head or Poision Spider trail head, 12- 14 miles one way on pavement (191). Since I am usually aired down I am in 3rd screaming up the hill leaving Moab to the North, doing about 45mph. So I wouldn't worry too much about the road drive. It is two lane once you get out of downtown and people can pass. Once you hit Poison Spider trail head the trail starts. Once you hit Gemini bridges you still have a few miles of dirt until you start getting to fun trails.

The majority of the other trails are in Sand Flats and off Kane Creek Rd. Which both take out of down town Moab and is much less pavement.

We are considering dogs while we look, most all of them say no dogs. I think the best option we may have is pleading a case to the owner. You really don't want to camp there. Its hot early, and often gets windy at night and some aggressive storms can pop up out of nowhere at night.... and flash flooding is a regular occurrence....oh and fire ants are everywhere.... Moab wants to kill you, that's why we hotel when we are out there. We did the camping thing a few times, its not enjoyable.

Thanks.
I was just trying to visualize the overall trip performance of my 2 completely different sets of tires. Even possibly throwing the KM2's (from the 40) on the mini. The swampers suck on the road when air'd up, then seriously bring the suck when aired down on the road when having a 4 banger trying to push them to highway speeds.

Currently it seems like the trip will begin in Moab. Maybe start hitting trails on Sunday or Monday, and go from there. I hope to hang out in Colorado on my way back... not sure when that will be.

Thanks.

With the amount of traction and lack of mud, I would say the km2's would be fine. In fact they may be better, more surface contact, softer compound than those old swampers, they will slip smoother (if that makes sense)... you will just loose some ground clearance...

KM2"s....known for slipping smoothly.
You know that you can do about anything wrong or incorrectly as long as its done...."smooth", then its cool.
That's why cigarette advertising says that their dumb ass products are "smooth".

Clarification: You want as much rubber on the rock as possible. When the TSL slips (likely due to the voids and edge catching (good for mud)) the large lugs and voids contribute to a rythm that leads to bouncing. When you are on slickrock (more traction than concrete) the lugs them selves can even be obstacles. Its why rc crawling comp cars are all running pin tires now, and the early rock crawlers liked to use BFG AT's. You want as much rubber on the surface as possible a slick would be awesome on slickrock...until you hit some sand. Big lugs are a compromise, you don't need to "paddle" through mud/sand/dirt.

Plus the 17" rims on 37" tires, vs 15" rims on the 38.5" tires. I would take the 37's on 17's especially for Moab. You will have more control and the side walls wont load and unload as much...

Sorry for the "tech."
