The barn pics remind me of my grandfathers barn in Attala county when I was a kid.
Thanks Nolen.

Also I love the tractor on the phone pole. Bravo for slowing down enough to see that. I would go by it at 70mph and never stop.

Had to go to St. Louis last week for work and decided to take the scenic route. Took familiar roads from Madison to Satartia and then to Rolling Fork, but after Rolling Fork I made my way to Glen Allan and hit the levy. I haven't been to Lake Washington since I was a kid. There are some amazing homes along the lakeside. Its also been a while since I road the levy. I saw some good bucks out chasing does and flocks of mallards on the back side of the levy. The wildlife along the back waters of the Mississippi never ceases to amaze me. (sorry no pics of that)

Once I crossed the river, I made my way up to Hardy, AR through the Arkansas Delta and the up into MO through the Mark Twain Forest. Absolutely beautiful country. Added about 3.5 hours to my overall trip, but there were so many places that I wanted to stop for hours to enjoy.

Here are a few photos from the Mississippi leg.

I went to the Gulf Islands National Seashore visitor center and the USM
Research Lab this am before work. Really cool place in Ocean Springs.

When I mapped out my Mississippi backroad route from Natchez to The Tennessee line I had to bail on the last 20 miles because the trail I used in the past was a massive muddy mess.

Since I lost Memphis in my territory, I never get north of Tupelo anymore.

Today though, I went to Corinth to pick up a Rhon tower from a ham goober.

Abe’s in Corinth. Man. This guy runs a hell of a flat top business. It’s truly an amazing place. A Mississippi must do

Thin patty burgers and 100% a+++ fries. $8 out the door in 15 minutes. Hot seat. People stacked.

HAM geek. Must be friends with Cam.

70’ of Rhon tower and cap for a mere $280. Worth a vacation day. Saved me $1500

The section of Holly Springs National Forest I had to divert is real rough. No way I’d feel comfortable sending anyone down it so I had to find a way around.

After 3 weeks of dust and a day of hard rain the “good” road was 4” deep in mud. It’s truly amazing how good KO2’s are in the mud. That’s no joke. They work. Obviously not MTs but when needed they do the job.

This is the completed trail. About 640 miles.

This is the new section. If it’s dry or you are feeling salty you can cut the corner where I circled. It’s marked on waypoints.

Abe's rocks. I've been going there since I was a kid on the way to Pickwick lake from Memphis. Only open monday--friday. Breakfast is second to none.

Is that actually Abe that does all the talking and taking orders?

Mapping out the north part of Homochitto National Forest to and from Natchez for work. Good stuff.

My dad and stepmom got married on this front porch 20+ years ago. Long story there, but the place was incredible in its day.

Took a trip down to Laurel yesterday to pick up a disc brake axle for the 40 project. Had a nice visit with fellow mudder, halcyon morgan, and took the slow road home following most of the “ellisville to canton” portion of @wngrog’s trans-mississippi tracks.

Laurel is a great town and nice to see it rebounding back into some of its former glory days when timber, oil and railroads ruled the day:
