After we toured the plant he took me across the big city of Ruleville to see his shop.....and his wicked cool 1969 FJ-40...that was bought in 1970 by his grandfather from a military guy that got drafted.

Yeah.....real cool......

Not sure what the hell I did with the pics of it I took....I think he put them in the 40 section once....

Next door to this shop is the Mississippi Hollywood Costume Museum and a building that a bunch of rich guys store their Africa mounts in.....

I say my goodbyes to JT Uranium and his really cool brother in law, engineer, competition shooter....whos name I forgot and headed home. I asked them for help finding backwards roads to get home....rreally I just wanted to get to Greenwood since I have Canton to Greenwood off road booked and mapped already.

I head east on Hwy 8 and cross the Quiver River....which JT says is not really a river and hook south on the first gravel road I see. I end up patching together gravel for the most part from here all the way to Morgan City.......yep......around 50 miles of gravel through the beautiful Delta. I saw so much cool s***.....

Just north of Highway 442 the gravel road went back west but Google and Motion X both said I could go straight. I ended up on a turn row and was intercepted by a wild eyed farmer with super long stringy hair. He asked WTF and I told him I was backroading the Delta and Google called this a county road....he said no problem, any time as long as it's not wet he doesnt mind. I'll plot the Motion X track around this. The "trail" dumped me out at his farm that had some wild ass stuff around it.

Just north of Morgan City I came across 3 white people out for a walk. It was weird.

Remember the Sidon Bridge I saw on Monday in the 4Runner? The stop at Morgan City was just screaming for that bridge to be added into this GPS leg......so I returned. With the pigs.....

I needed to get home by 6 and it was 4. A beeline home would get me there at 5 so I still had an hour to kill. I made use of that hour in Mathews Brake National Wildlife Refuge

The only wildlife I saw all day was the elusive Tilda Bogue swamp pig on the run

So thats it. A LOADED week and a LOADED day....I picked up the Fam-damily at 6 and we dropped Berkley at a party and the remaining 3 of us went to Shapleys and enjoyed some fine Mississippi food........I'll have to look back at my phone later and see if I creeped Red that night....she looked spectacular and the steak was off the chain as always.....

Mississippi adventures are on hold for a week and I wrap this up on the plane headed to Los Angeles. Will resume soon with more backroad adventures soon.

Delta Day in May - See and Eat Mississippi

What!!!??? lol

The North Nine Loop

The Mississippi Mound Trail is a new system of markers mostly along the Highway 61 system in the Mississippi Delta from the Tennessee line in the north to the Louisiana line in the south.

Although most of the mounds are on private property, all of the markers are on public highways and have turnouts so you can safely pull off the roads and read the signs and view the mounds.

I pulled the GPS coordinates off the webpage and navigated from mounds 1-9. The route I took was to stay on Backroads as much as possible and didn't necessarily take the most direct route. A lot of time was spent on old highway 61 which is one of the most scenic highways in Mississippi.

Ride 120 miles through The Delta with me on stops 1-9 on the list beginning with Edgefield and ending with Batesville.

This would be really cool if it was not 400 yards away and summer....I will try again after the leaves fall.

Batesville.....cool town. I need to go and just look around.

See trail post above.....got it. Saw it. Peeked my interest in trying to tackle the trail.

Lunch went good....the next appt went good then my 4:30 got moved to 3:00 so I was out of town at 3:30......Red has a huge presentation on Wednesday so she wants me the hell out of the house so I decided to follow the mound trail and see what's what. As you can see above, it was real cool. The stuff I saw in between the stops though, that was really cool too.....here you go.

Once the pride of the southern gaming community, Harrah's Tunica is now abandoned. It's eerie......

Blues Trail markers are fascinating. I have the XMRadio Blues station on at all times in the Delta

I backroaded it from Clarksdale to Sumner and then had to give up and get back on the main roads. The Delta was once again a beauty. I love it.
