So after lunch I got the road to traverse Holly Springs National Forest east to west and then across the north end of Sardia to Como.

Great backroads with about 1/3 of them in the NF being gravel. I marked some nic smaller roads to check out later.

On the way out of Tupelo I saw this gem. I talked to the dudes "old lady" and got his number and left after some creeping.

The road across to Helena was unremarkable. A little of the hills. A little of the Delta.

All in all this didn't met me many great new roads but I pretty much did 350 miles from Canton to Helena on roads I had never seen before.

Beats the s*** out of the interstate

And it netted you a Free State of Jonescruiser

@under_psi and I stumbled into @Dewey78 s hot rod shop last week when we got his new 76 V8J40

This was my first mind blowing experience of the week. The second was @Jtranum 's place. More on that later.

Sorry for the low grade pics. I was more mouth agape instead of taking pics.

This motor in this hoopty was awesome

The saddest thing was this Jeep. They did the motor for the guy but he wanted a granny low 4 speed (sm240) no AC. No heat. No wipers.

He has $45,000 in it and it's almost Undrivable.

Woukd take $20,000 for it .....

OK...gotta back up.

Last Monday I had to go to Greenville. I was at the opening ceremony for the MS Mound trail then I went to an appt, then I backroaded home. My 4Runner was so clean I stuck to the pavement.

My MS backroad idol was the MC...Walt Grayson

The Mound Trail mainly follows HWY61 and has markers and pullouts. Lots are on private property, some are open.

I have been finding these things for years in the Delta, I am glad there in signage now.

On the way up I stopped in Midnight Mississippi and took some pics.

I jumped over to Old 61 and checked out Arcola Mound

After that I went to Greenville and saw my doctor. I PMed JT Uranium and asked if he was free for lunch. He was, so I plotted a course to Ruleville on backroads (mainly)

Saw this bad ass place somewhere in the middle of nowhere....north of Indianola and west of Sunflower.....

So, I met up with Joe...or Little Joe.....or JT Uranium in Ruleville....12:30....they are 11:00 eaters so they were hungry. I dumped the pigs on the ladies there (and they pooped....) and we went to the Whatley Store.....pure awesomness....see Where to Eat post.....

This is how the lead arrives......

image-X3.jpg

They smelt it into bars like this......

This presses those blanks into wire the correct caliber

image-1581x1252.jpg

And the wire comes out....

image-X3.jpg

Lead......lots of it. Does not get to toxic temps so they melt in the open.....

This machine....look at the date on the tag......

They do new and reloads......the back has barrel upon barrel of brass.....all hand sorted

image-X3.jpg

Cliff Notes on this....

Big Joe....Little Joe's dad is a farmer that was going through lean times in the 80's so he took his personal reloading business to the next level....times were still tough in the ammo sales business until a friend got him the contract to provide ammo for the state......of course, he had to perform and provide great ammo, which he did.

They are also one of 6 or so distributors for Winchester Ammo......you want Winchester...you gotta call Precision Delta......

They load new...they reload......they turn out a LOT of ammo. The experience was unreal......I highly recommend getting with JT Uranium and checking it out.
