Just acquired a 1993 80 Series (1FZ-FE) and I have located a small oil leak. The bloke I bought it from said it was from the power steering, but that doesn't seem to be the cause to me?

Doesn't look like the main seal, could it be the orange o-ring on the pressure relief valve?

Photo is from the ground looking upwards

It looks brown like oil and not red like steering fluid.
The most likely culprit is the oil pump cover seal. Change that, the front crank seal and the distributor o-ring while your there.
And the radiator hoses if you take it out...and maybe even the thermostat, and maybe even flush your radiator fluid while in there. May as well knock out the PHH too hahaha

So many things in that area no telling what else can be added in when you do that (ask me how I know)

There's a long thread in the 80 forum, oil pump cover leak, search for that.

Also, here's a video showing the repair:

Just changed mine - looks like the exact same leak.
