Ok, how the hell are these little creatures getting into my 80? My mouse traps have been working over time sitting in the front floor board. One guess is that they're coming through the fresh air vent, through blower housing and then through the floor heater duct. I'm going to see if I can put a screen door mesh in front of the blower intake.

Has anyone done similar? Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Check the plastic screens under the cowl panel. I had one pop loose which would allow critters to enter via the fresh air intake.

Anything the little bastards can fit their heads through is all they need.

Put a python in there- and chicks dig them more than snorkels

moth balls. lay them in your parking area. don't eat them.

Bounce sheets. Rodents can't stand the smell. I place one under the hood when I am out of town for extended periods of time. Works like a charm. You will still need to find their entry-point, but it will keep them away.

Never heard about fabric softener sheets. Great idea. They smell much better than moth balls too.

Yes, I'm aware of all the tricks and trying them out as well. The Bounce sheets do work well up to a point.

I really was trying to figure out the entrance hole they're using. Looks like Cdan has a good clue.

I've never removed the cowl panel, easy to do? Any gotchas?

Remove the wiper arms and then the screws at the leading edge (where the back of the hood meets it) then lift it up and toward the front of the truck. As long as a sloppy glass installer did not glue the windshield weatherstrip to it you are good to go.

Zapped this bugger last week in the garage with the electric trap three feet from the 80...as I told my wife, this is war, and I take no prisoners. Caught two more this week with conventional traps.

Cats and ferrets.
Agree! Just buy a bag of the cheapest cat food you can find, and put a bowl of it by the corner of your garage. If they just come by once or twice a week and clean it up, the stray cats will keep the rodents away. John

If you repaint it, the cats will find it

I tried mothballs and green bars of bars(dial or irvory or any thing that stinks good) to keep squirrels from eating my wires. Also, I haven't tried this but I heard bear urine or really any predator.

How do you collect the bear urine?

Sounds like HIS urine may work just fine..

I thot he said beer urine.

Mouse poison will do the trick, in 3 days they will be dead in an agonizing way: those green pellets will make them thirsty, the more water they drink the poison works more. I don't know if you can find this poison but I get mine at Home Depot. At the end they die dried up and most of the time they wont stink. Also, they go away to die somewhere else....;)

I'd lend you my part-Bengal house cat if you were closer. He's all over the Land Cruiser every time he gets in the garage. Open one of the doors and it's his, too.

He regularly dispatches mice, birds, rabbits, and squirrels. Totally organic, no hazardous poisons, loves you when he's done killing.
