Yes sir. Building one. I want a couple things that are not available in pre made trailers. Like fitting a queen mattress... Most trailers are 48 in wide outside.... I get it, sheets, plywood, etc comes in that. But its a little too narrow. And, I want to build a pass through in the roof to get in the roof top tent. That way our kids can sleep up there and I can reach my arm up and check on them. lol.

I did some searching last night. A couple places still have some of the Toyota wheel bolt pattern in those rims. I will try to order 2 so they match.
Don't you need three so the trailer has a spare? Now we're overlanding!

I've been looking into trailers. First was absolute sticker shock at the customs. Then was absolute sticker shock at the people bolting some angle to a TSC trailer and selling it with the cheapest tent available for 5K.
So obviously on to army stuff. Ones too little, ones way too wide and rides rough.
I've got some rubber torsion axles laying around. Wheels are turning.

Will you start a trailer build thread? Would love to see what you're thinking.

I saw a decent trailer for 1500 in Reno - to build off from and customize. Maybe better just rolling your own from start??? Just saying there are some out in the wild.

LOL. That is the same thing I came up with. I have both of those army trailers the large and smaller one..... I am giving them to my uncle and starting from scratch.

I got a chance to check out the surplus axles I bought years ago, they are a 6 on 5.5 but are a 5200 lb rubber torsion. That's probably way too heavy and would be as bad as the big army trailer?

My theory is axles function the best at about 80% capacity.

I did a 2500# torsion axle under my camp trailer and it's probably a little over sprung, but not a massive amount.

@sogncab I believe @Schane has a Mud account now. Throwing this up here so he can find us. Great times in the Black Hills for sure!
