For those coming from Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, which is the faster route, the No. 5 or the Fraser Canyon. I have checked the total kms but that means basically nothing when one considers the construction zone near Merritt (single lane for 20 k last WE) and the hills on the Coq with a NA "naturally exasperated" truck loaded down.
I have driven the Coq to Kelowna the last few weekends and my temp needle keeps climbing up there to the 3/4 mark on the hills. Then, when I'm going down hill at around 140 kph it moves down to 1/4 (where I'm feel more comfortable). The people in tractor trailers and rv's are quite confused with my erratic speeds. This tells me they've never driven a 3B-powered truck up the Coq.

Anyone have some advice for me? Also, once every so often both the gas gauge and the temp needle absolutely pin it and max out. I've heard some mud chat regarding this peculiarity. . . should I ignore it or address it. If so, what do I do? BTW, the rig I'm taking is my '85 BJ70.
