A picture of my hood that I posted in another thread. Hardcore, eh?
The tranny is going to be out within about half an hour. Should be shifting the h41 and Orion by next weekend.
It is soooo tempting to let it leak out the rear main, leave the clutch alone and just stab the new trans in there. I could be putting it back together this afternoon instead of scraping off 25yo oil pan gasket.

I love this rig! I am jealous however, really want an H41...someday! Will you make it out to cruise moab, I want to get a picture with my rig next to yours...

I hope you love it. You have one just like it. No CM for me, I'm pretty sure. I hope to be working on my roll cage by then. Still lots of odds and ends to work out. Anti-wrap bar, travel-limit bumpers...
Tranny's out. The clutch and pressure plate are new. Glad I didn't order them. The pilot bearing is good too. I'm going to replace the throwout bearing.
I'm having a hard time deciding to replace a rear main seal that's not leaking. I guess I'm doing it.

The perfectly good, but 25yo rear main is replaced, the oil pan is all buttoned back up, and I pressed the throwout bearing together. The flywheel is turned, but it started pissing down rain before I got that bolted up. I decided to come to work and save up some brownie points so I can stay home and work on it later in the week when it's not raining.
I'm going to swap over the top cover and some Toyota bolts from the original trans and install Georg's nose cone saver, then it will be all ready to poke in there and put back about a hundred bolts in the e-brake, drive shafts, tranny tunnel cover and seats.
I talked to a guy today about helping pull the exhaust up some, beefing up the skid plate, moving up the rear shock mounts and my plan for the anti-wrap bar.
I'd like to be done with all this but the skid plate by next weekend. The weekend after that is the Stockton swap meet.

I've got a latch for my barn doors, but I needed the catch portion. Now I've got that for the doors.
I may use this for my future spare tire carrier and fab a catch for that using this catch as the pattern.

Got the new trans sitting in there about 7:30 last night. That was no fun by myself.
I've just got to do the linkage, finish cleaning the interior, like under the tank, and button it all back up.
Anyone else going to the Stockton swap meet on April 2nd?

Here's more proof. The H41/Orion is in and done, but the H/N/L linkage needs work. The whole rig runs so great though. It's cushy on the freeway at 70mph.
I think I insulated the gas gauge with FIPG...it doesn't work anymore.

My kids call them the "old man shoes". One thing about being old...you don't have to worry about getting old. Hey, they were $10 at Big 5, they're made by Dr Scholl's and they keep me from tromping around in my Rockports.
It's getting there. I'm going to try to move the top-rear shock mounts higher and make some progress on the anti-wrap bar this weekend.

Busy day Saturday - Trac Bar
I've got a total of about $70 for parts in this.
The brackets came off the axle before we narrowed it. The tall one was for the locator bar, the little one was a lower link bar.
The links are original fzj80 lower links. I bought an extra pair just for this. The two links on the axle end will be held into the tubing with a roll pin. There are no forces trying to pull the tubes off the links. I'll grease them to prevent rust. The forward link will have oblong holes where the roll pin goes through so it can twist a little.
The shackle up front is original to this truck, from one of the leaf springs. The tube went unused from the shackle reversal. It was supposed to go through the frame. It's TIG welded to the .120 wall tubing we used to reinforce the cross member. We may tie it into the skid plate later. There's more clearance with the tub than how it looks, maybe 1/2".

Yea. Same guy as the oil fill plug in post #3. He did the welding while we went out for anniversary dinner.
