What's the 80 pump run at ?

You really need to start your own thread with "Powertrain Integration Products (PIP) Hydro Boost" in the title --- people are going think this about the Marks set up.

I have been looking at the PIP setup thinking that when my vacuum booster goes again I would do the swap. PIP seems to make good stuff-- see how much everyone loves the Window Rocket.

But I was wondering why I hadn't seen much talk about it. I would prefer to keep the stock 80 master cylinder so it seems like a good set up.

I was planning to get line sets in production by this summer and start a thread for discussing the product.

I get multiple emails a week asking why I don't sell the hoses too. It's an odd thing, but I don't have any 80 series with a stock engine. Nor do any of my local customers. Hydroboost hoses are just off the shelf parts if you have an LS or Cummins.

I feel a thread about the product at this time will just fill up with people asking where to get hoses for a 1FZ. So I haven't promoted it much.

There's about 150 of my 80 hboost kits out there. They sell ok even without the hoses.

Well let’s put the results of the booster install nothing else. Brakes are nearly twice as good, Hands down fixed. Better than my 100 brakes now. I can modulate in out of ABS keeping my rear load valve in place. 33 inch tires pulsating in ABS and truck stops straight. Back end not stepping out to the side and tracks as it should. Pedal has a good feel initially too. You can feel it in the pedal when the booster is working doing its job.

A slight whine in the pump with air bubbles working out. It was that way after the engine was set in too. Took a couple of days and drive it and set .. check fluid and when bubbles are gone whine stops.

The change I see is how fast the pedal returns back , it’s slower that the vacuum booster but driving I don’t notice. The oe booster had a return spring , instructions didn’t say install it and didn’t see a place to hook it , it hooked on the OE pin before.

The second change, power steering a little stiffer. Nothing dramatic… can turn wheels just find stopped back the forth to the stops. Just noticed driving it turning into sharpe parking spot a touch stiffer.

I trade that for the better brake hands down.

My eBay hose kit has an invert flare in it, it leaked on my steering box… hum.. ran out of threads to tighten to the seat. I saw an 16 mm oring fitting, I chucked it up in my lathe turned the end smooth, and put a 45 degree cut .300 inside and .400 outer before it because flat matching the invert flare line that came off. It doesn’t leak now … fixed.

The hoses made up super easy on each end and I had to buy a bango fitting to my ps pump and reuse oe banjo bolt. I spotted the holes inside the fitting and marked the top to tighten and exit hole
In banjo directs fluid right into the outlet. More flow volume maybe.. don’t know.

Recap new booster ford 185.00 plus shipping tax
This adapter kit 159.00
Hose kit 68.00
One banjo fitting Amazon 10-15 bucks don’t remember …

You could need another fitting for the steering box 16 mm invert flare to 6an flare , I made one work.

Thanks a lot

Oh that kit assumes you have the flat nut socket to remove the oe bracket and install the adapter bracket. It was 50 bucks Amazon I think

And needed two 10 mm corse threat nuts for the master cylinder adapter to booster. Assumed using used booster with master clyinder.

I not a big three fastener, Toyota uses fine threads …

That took some
Digging deep… in my bolts and nuts !

I have a pressure brake bleeder and took
Brake like loose to help the install.

Lower T under master cylinder took some
Massaging to clear the shock stud.

To recap, a point … if your ABS is ok, I would keep it … my had that classic soft spongy feel 1st 1 to 2 inches of pedal travel. Then brake pedal would firm up. One quick pump it was good. Either I was lucky this time and trapped are came out , but I don’t notice it now.

Do the booster you will not regret it! Of corse you other parts need to be in good working order too.

1 inch or master it perfect feel … a good recommendation. The seller of the kit made.

Just a follow up , after 2 days all the whine is gone from my PS pump I was hearing, brake pedal height is wonderful. I can tell a small load on the ps pump as it providing hydraulic pressure to charge the accumulator. I mean a slight increase noise working.

A good trade off for better than my 100 brakes and a whole lot less than Marks wants for their kit and or big brake install front and it both front and rear.

I have the confidence now I can get into the brakes hard enough to modulate ABS if I desire or not.

Take care
