So where are we at on this march run?

This I am in for since my stock 100 can do it.

My 80 is a time vampire and money vampire because it bleeds me dry of both :frown:

Interested.

Looks like a good weekend for another run, and hope to make it. Need to enjoy these runs while it's still cool out,

just button the fxxxer up and run it - if it really is as bad as you think, you'd find out real fast :hillbilly:

or it might just be all in your head ;p

I took some scouts up in there camping this weekend, but used the Wolverine gate and camped off the 1356. Which sections are you talking about? I haven't been all through there, but planned on driving the 10 one weekend. 3512 hasn't been graded, but there wasn't much the stock 100 had issue with. The 12 however was quite a bit more technical, and more than I wanted to explore alone with my 3yo at dusk.

It is my understanding that they graded Bulldog Canyon and the access trails, 10, 3554, etc. You are referring to Willow Spring and the east side trails.

If you got to "technical" stuff on Willow Spring, likely stayed in the wash too long? The trail climbs out of the wash to the north, long before the rock garden.

Okay, since Bulldog Canyon isn't what it used to be, how about if we run Montana Mountain? I personally have not travelled Bulldog Canyon nor Montana Mountain. However, the description of Montain Mountain in the Wells guide book says this trail travels up to 5000', around a 30 mile loop. I understand that doing the route in the reverse order (as described by Wells) would be more interesting, since there are some recent fires in this area. I think many of you are still okay with the date. We just need to firm up the trail. Based on the feedback, I will post meetup location/time, GPS waypoints, etc.

Montana Mountain is rated as a "medium" difficulty trail.

Yeah it was hard to follow for sure...not really marked at all. I think I was in the right spot though as the trail was pretty obvious. It was a tricky downhill section that I was speaking of that I knew I didn't want to have to try and go back up (by myself in the dark) with a stock 100. Plus I was looking for a camp spot where I could bring a trailer in...so it wouldn't fit the bill for what I was looking to do anyway. Just making the comment that the Cottonwood trail WASN'T graded if you all were looking for something in the area where you'd at least have to engage 4 wheel drive.

I am okay with the date and Montana Mountain.

This run is on the calendar for SUNDAY, 3/18:

Montana Mountain Trail Run

When: Sunday, Mar 18, 2012

Time and meeting place: 9:00am at Bashas' in Gold Canyon.
5311 South Superstition Mountain Drive, Gold Canyon, AZ

I'm planning to be there to make this run.

Should be an interesting Sunday, there is a 30% chance of rain and a 60% chance on Monday. Hopefully there is some wind to keep the dust out of our eyes.
