Soooo…

My Husky’s arrived and some observations I thought I’d share

I THINK they updated them, or maybe I got a different part number than some of ya

Contrary to comments here. Both the dead pedal and gas peddle are 100% covered. Updated design?

Also, the hooks on the 2010 LC aren’t even close to lining up with the mat, but they pop out very easily in one piece and with the sharp spikes on the bottom of the husky’s, the mats are NOT moving or sliding.

Super happy I went this route!

I prefer the Weathertechs, I have them in all my cars, even the Miata that never sees snow and rarely even rain. They do a better job of covering below/around the gas pedal. I fixed the dead pedal coverage with a piece of plastic sheet I found on Amazon and a few pop rivets. (please ignore the crusty dirt, we get this stuff here called "snow" and it's been bitter cold lately)

Yeah, the Huskys cover both the dead pedal and gas pedal 100% and I’ve had great luck with these in previous vehicles. Personal preference

Also, I notice yours doesn’t have the plastic protector (with the horizontal lines) to the right of the gas pedal, did you remove it, or is it a year difference thing?

Looks great. I have been really happy with my Huskys.

For some reason I thought they were discontinued, but good to know they are still available.

Thanks.

It’s weird, their website doesn’t show anything unless you choose 2014 or newer, it doesn’t even show anything for 2013. Someone pointed this out on another thread thankfully

Quick mod today installing the kit from Senor Kurt to open the hatch from the inside for those of us without electric liftgates:

Straight forward install and good instructions, 1 🍌 One of those VERY rare occasions when things actually go EASIER than planned

Ballasts and bulbs FINALLY showed up!!!

Going to try to get this done this weekend I think!

Note: Getting the ballast to seat properly in the housing with the fat oring is a bit tricker than expected, but all set now!

The Badly Yellowing 2010 hesdlights on there now are driving me freaking BONKERS:

2013 HID OEM Headlight Upgrade Complete

Fairly straight forward. I’d rate it 1.5🍌

Several folks talk about taking a Dremel to the brand new $$$ housing to clear the headlight washer mount.

Thinking of taking a Dremel to brand new $$$ lights didn’t sit well with me, so upon further review, I just Dremeled the headlight washer mount and it still has ample meat left and 100% secure.

Don’t even know how the light output is yet, but I’m super happy to not be looking at my yellowing lenses anymore.

Thanks to @bloc and others that have giving tips and advice for this mod.

Humor and embarrassing note: Since new lamps came complete, I made the dumb assumption the turn signal bulbs were included.

Turned everything on, tested it, high and lows work fine, no turn signals or hazards, start testing all the wires, etc, spent an hour trying to troubleshoot. Yeah…. No bulbs…. 😂👍🏼

Looks great. Only other parts were the bulbs, ballasts, and conversion harnesses from earlier in the thread?

Thanks.

Yessir, that’s it, part #s above

I did the exact same thing.

Congrats on the new buckets.. Once they are aimed you'll like the light output.

So got to take it for a drive at night.

Definitely need to adjust the beams, but the light output difference/improvement was immediately noticeable, which was expected.

But having, weird glitch, which seems to be the exact same glitch @amitbh234 is having after doing the exact same conversion.

DRLs (high beam bulbs), passenger side is super dim when being used as DRL, drivers side is fine

When turn on low beam headlights, everything’s fine, bottom LEDs light up, etc…

When use high beams as high beams, all is fine and they work 100%

Gonna dig more into this, but any ideas?

Making forward progress on the sleep platform / storage/power area idea with some mock ups using some crap wood lying around the shop.

This is snowballing big time 😂

I built these in 2019, just before leaving for a 3 week solo trip. They worked really well. I've since modded the one behind the driver's seat by making it smaller, putting a 55L NL fridge on the floor. It works well there for us. I also added lights inside, makes finding stuff in there much easier.

Excellent! Thank you sir!

Yes, planning something similar, but will also be the home for the house battery, inverter, etc...

Carpeted to match the ARB drawers of course! :)

Yeah, that was before applying the carpeting that I found at Home Depot that is a remarkably good match for the ARB.

The "lip" on the front edge is a piece of poplar, it keeps stuff from sliding off and falling down into the gap behind the seats. I found that gap is really useful for storing long things and less used items.

Well, finally got the headlights aimed properly and got some night miles under my belt

YES, the 2013+ OEM HID upgrade from the Halogens, although expensive, is 110% worth the $ and the work!

I used OEM housings, and the bulbs @bloc suggested and the lighting/visibility improvement really IS that drastic!

All said and done, around $1800 ish for everything needed

So if anyone is on the fence about this mod, i suggest, SEND IT!!!

Thanks to all that posted details about this on various threads and for @amitbh234 sharing his recent experiences

Well. I finally got my sliders! Woohoo!

Went back and forth 10x between Slee and Bud Built

End of the day, went with @BudBuilt for a few reasons:

-Mounting system (full frame support plate, no riv nuts)
-Options (went with simple die down steps, raw)
-Bent the crap out of my Slee steps on my Tundra (to be fair they were the original variant before he switched to the stronger alloy)
-Shipping. Slee wanted close to $500 which is absurd IMHO
-Known bud 20+ years and used to wheel with him and that @KLF fella back east. Happy to support him and his beefcake products

Absolute artwork and beef!!!

Dropped them off to ECP Powder Coating - El Cajon, CA - https://www.ecppowdercoatinginc.com/ locally to get finished in Satin black. Been using ECP for over 10 years for all my Powdercoat stuff and theyre top notch!

Stoked to get these back from coating and installed so I can go wheel this damn thing!
