Finally got the @BudBuilt sliders installed

Was a tad hesitant going this route because in most of the pics, they look like they stick out further than they actually do. Pleasantly surprised with this.

Mounting system is absolutely bombproof and I have 100% confidence I can bounce of anything on the trail safely with no damage!

And these are perfectly level like the stock steps were, not angled like the “rock sliders”

Passenger Side is 1.5🍌
Driver Side Install is 3.5🍌

KDSS junctions are a MASSIVE pain in the arse to get connected back up using the longer bolt into the threaded bung of the frame, blindly.

Swivel head ratcheting wrenches are 100% MANDATORY and still a royal pain and took forever.

But now that it’s done, I’m super happy with the fit, finish, design, and mounting system

Only complaint was lack of washers with all the small hardware. Luckily I live 2 blocks from a hardware store.

The satin black coating from ECP, came out 👌🏼

Looks perfect. Once I get over the winter plague I’ll put my order in and get mine too. A lot of great products on the market but Bud’s no drill/no nutsert install is a win to me. Do you think having access to a lift would make a difference in ease of install?

No the lift arms would get in the way. They don't even use a lift at BB when they install them. Drive the front up on ramps, then jack stands under the rear axle.

I have access to a lift, and no, it would make it considerably harder.

They are HEAVY and ya need to get all around the frame and the lift arms would make it almost impossible

I just used a floor jack, piece of plywood, and a buddy for extra set of hands, worked perfectly

Didn’t even jack truck up

Sidenote: Doing the math, after slider install, with 3rd row and 60% part of 2nd row removed, im still really close to factory stock weight 👍🏼

nice work! That driver's slider install is a real B...I'm very glad I watched the video both BEFORE and during installation. The flex head 10/12mm ratcheting wrenches were clutch for sure. Installing by yourself is tough, but doable (if I can do it, anyone can) if you're patient. I'm glad I did this install personally as I know it was done right and I'm not planning on ever removing the sliders.

Thanks. Yeah.

I got all the tools needed, so it wasn’t lack of special tools, even had a friend with tiny hands, and that didn’t help either.

Actually, JUST NOW finished the last KDSS mounting bracket this morning, the front most one right near the angle point of the slider.

Took almost 30 minutes of 1/16th turns to get it snug finally 🤦🏻 My neighbors love me

Yeah, if these ever have to come off for any reason, I’m just gonna sell the truck 😂

These trials in wrenching are such a test of patience. I'll pay just about anything for that magic access tool.

Absolutely!!!

Was losing my mind at the end of day, yesterday and determined “this is a tomorrow morning problem”

For the front most KDSS mounting bolt near the angle point of the slider, there simply isn’t a magic access tool for it. Well, maybe a sawzall 😂

Glad that is over with!

Latest eBay score

Came across this in my daily hunting ritual while sitting on the crapper.

It was mislabeled as a half height and “damaged” and only had one crappy pic.

Emailed seller but English wasn’t his strong suit so I took a gamble. And it paid off.

$600 shipped to my door, full size, roller top, brand new, with sealed package of hardware and all.

Had a few pieces of bent sheet metal on the bottom that I formed back into place in 2 minutes and good as new.

Oddly, I just ordered a trim replacement kit for the other drawer that had a broken plastic corner piece, the new one has the opposite corner broken, so the $42 trim kit will have both drawers back to new.

The luck I’ve been having with scoring deals on parts for this truck is the polar opposite of previous builds, so that’s refreshing! 😂

End of the day, complete ARB drawer system with fit kit, with one fixed roller and one roller top, for about the price of one brand new drawer! Woot!

Test fit complete, going to take it all out and mate them together, install the fit kit on the other side and button it all up later this week.

Stoked.

That's some slick stuff! Nice work!!!

Thanks.

I discovered awhile ago TONS of sellers mistype eBay ads. Lots of wholesalers just blowing out items that get returned and half the time they aren’t even sure exactly what it is or how to list it

If I’m looking for something, I’ll always type in just generic terms and sometimes leave out a few letters. It’s crazy what pops up.

I found this drawer by typing in “arb drawer parts” and it was the first thing that popped up, while looking for just the trim kit for the other one. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wasn’t even looking for second drawer right now, but I can never pass up a crazy deal.

I guess you could say “that escalated quickly” 😂

Finally got around to permanently installing the drawer system and replacing the broken trim pieces

Overall, it’s a 1.5🍌 job, nothing is “hard” about it, just VERY time consuming for something that should be so simple. But the design and engineering that went into these is pretty impressive.

But all said and done, it’s totally rock solid and rattle free, and that’s all I care about 👍🏼

Love the fit and finish

You have exactly the same setup as I do. It's one of the best upgrades I've done, have had them since 2017. I'm in them every day, so useful.

Yessir, i had these in my 100 and used the snot out of them.

Theres a ton more options on the market now, but these are still tried and true rattle free! Luckily ARB hasnt cheapened the hell out of the quality of them, like they've done with a bunch of their other products

I had the idea of making a custom one for the passenger side but lack of time and wood working skills were hindering that idea, then this other one kinda fell in my lap. Stoked

Your build is coming out to be the “OEM+” build so was shooting for. Really nice work so far. Love it so far. My next project will be Bilstein 6112/5160 shocks and a suspension refresh but am taking a pause to help my wallet recover a little.

Btw, have you checked to see if your center diff lock works? Our cars are basically the same model and spec but mine was bought at 175k miles and my Center diff lock doesn’t work properly. I would get the car nice and warm and check to see if it engages if you haven’t already, just to be adventure ready.
