Material is 3/16", it is light and strong.
UPDATE 7-6-14: After crunching all the numbers: material, hardware, latches, tools, machine time, drive time/expense, other consumables, and labor. I think that $575 is a fair price, aluminum cost more as do stainless steel hardware, my machine time is charged by the hour.
$575 will be the basic lid, as seen without the ruler engraving, raw aluminum finish.
- Subject to change includes: hinge size and mounting style, and latches.
What does everyone think? I'm definitely open to group buy option at $525 shipped, I would prefer to do 12 per run with group buy price paid in full via paypal. It will be first come first serve basis, I will ship it out as I get them done. I can ship these within the lower 49 states, You will have to arrange shipping if you are out of the US, but I will do what I can to help.
I believe that I can get 12 done in 2-3 weeks max.

As of now, you can purchase the 2 I have and that can be shipped Monday. I would prefer to have 12 orders in so I can make it in the same run, those will go out as I finished them in the order payment is received. Let me know if I'm confusing you, its a big late here, I'm confused and sleepy myself.

hey socal, for all the guys that want it for around $300 just cnc the part for them so they can source their own latches....! I have done some research and it seems that the latches are really expensive..They can buy those parts and the hardware....for me, i don't have time to source out all the spec'd bells and whistles! i will come down today to pick up around 3pm??!!

That's actually not a bad idea, some people were asking for DYI kit. For $300, I can offer the frame and lid cut out with hinge attached. I will have the holes cut out to fit exactly into the factory holes, it will not be counter sink, you can source your own bolts. The lid will not have the latch holes cut out, that will leave room for you guys to purchase your own latches and cut the holes to fit accordingly, you pay for shipping and handling.

Yup because I didn't pay for the shipping! I sold quite a few things on ebay and have shipped multiple bike frames over seas, BUT the frames are generally well over $1000 so $200 isn't horrible when the savings are also over $1000.
Also this thing isn't exactly common so you have to pay for that.
