I gotta say, trying to solve the headlight issue in my wifes 2000 LX470 has left me with more questions than answers. Went through several threads and I have no idea what to do. I don't want to be trendy, cool, bright, or any other adjective for that matter, I just want to be able to see more than the lane I'm in, the lane next to me/shoulder and 4-5 stripes on the road in front of me.... I just want to SEE. (also don't want to risk the lives of people going the opposite direction) I think I'll just start with new bulbs, or whatever I'm supposed to get that fits, because my '97 4Runner is much safer to drive at night. I hate that my second post here is a rant but man, good luck finding a decent headlight solution. I will say that it might just be me because every other topic of debate, so far, around here has been great and I'm able to read it all then form my own plan/opinion based on what I've read, good or bad. No such luck with the headlights. Might've just answered my own question.
Same here and being outside the US makes getting parts more complcated and expensive. :(

Interesting option. I wonder how difficult the job is?
Not very difficult.

just went through thread, did I miss updated links to the parts in first post? all the links tsx option are broken.

Still happy with my cheapie Angel Eyes headlights after 3 years: https://www.amazon.com/AnzoUSA-111169-Chrome-Projector-Headlight/dp/B003ZIIQNW?tag=ihco-20

I have these wired in to my brights and they blow everything away for distance lighting that I've tried: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GS4QTZN?tag=ihco-20

I just did the tsx upgrade about a month ago and I'm happy with the results however I just drove in some heavy snow and wow visibility was terrible. When surrounding light was low the light from the headlights just bounced off the snow producing a blinding effect. Fortunately I don't drive in active moderate-heavy snow much if ever but I was very surprised. I have not even had a chance to perfectly aim the headlights yet so they are still pointed a little bit lower than they might otherwise be... The op mentioned this to be an issue with one of the other options but it is also an issue with the tsx swap. If there are any suggestions to improve this issue I'm all ears.

Secondly it seems I'm having issues with intermittent inoperability of both low beams. Sometimes it's the left, sometimes it's the right. Is there a wiring issue I'm not up on? I know some have advocated direct wiring to the battery using factory wiring just to switch the lights on. Is this the fix for my issue or do I need better ballasts? I'm just using cheap Amazon versions at the moment. Is there a good option that is cheaper than morimoto???$$$ It seems that the issue only occurs after turning the lights off and within a short time period turning the lights on again. For instance as I was driving tonight I turned them off for a minute because visibility was actually better with just my fog lights. When I went to turn my lights back on I got nothing, then of and on again a few times until I got just the right... later I turned them off and on again and got just the left... then later off an on again and got both.... strange...

^^For 1.5 yrs I was using the cheap amazon hid kit w/o a proper harness. It was 6/10 rating, good but either the bulb or ballast or sometimes both keep failing. So I decided to finally get a reputable kit (Morimoto Elite XB 6000k bulbs, 50W ballasts, igniters and harness. And it did not disappoint. I would safely say it’s now 9/10 clarity, more intense, definitely brighter.

I’m using Morimoto Mini H1 8.0 clear lens projectors btw.

Any concerns of the 55w ballasts melting the H1 reflector bowl? People over on HIDplanet was spreading FUD when i went that route, i then switched back to 35. Def missed the extra brightness of the 55W though, but the fog lights fixed that.

Ran 55w ballasts for 1.5 years, nothing melted or warped but I can only speak for the oem Lexus HL housings and reflectors, the aftermarket/depot ones can be different which I think most of those cases happen. Are you still using your factory housings?

I'm running Mini H1 retrofits, people say the extra UV from the higher output will burn the reflector bowl. I did run 55w in my OEM projectors for awhile without issue but with the morimoto i dont know. A lot of work to replace the projectors.

this is the bowl burn im referring to

What do yall think is the best option for 2023? Is it still one of these options or is there something better/easier available now?

TSX Projector Retrofit, Morimoto h1 mini 8.0 projector, Morimoto D2S 5.0 projector, Morimoto M LED?

I did tsx almost one year ago. By far the easier route is to get the prefabricated brackets (which are not compatible with the tsx projectors from what i remember) instead of mashing the tsx projector to the stock bracket. But if you want to save money tsx is by far the bast value even though it is a major pita.
