When I tore into my bed I came to the conclusion that it was history. I work the internet for a month looking for a supplier for the corrugated flooring but found nothing suitable. Went to about six salvage yards, nothing. Ended up buying a sheet of steel and built the bed floor and it is just as good as the corrugated (not stock) with extra ribs on the underside and topped with Rhino liner.
Did not want the do this type of rebuild on the bed floor be sometimes we have to do the next best thing, improvise.

I snapped a few photos. I found that the old floor ribs are 5/16 and the new ones are 6/16. See photos

Looks pretty darn good. No judgment on the welds as they look way better than my last attempt.

Do you know what gauge the sheet metal is?

Also I don't think any of us are going to quibble over 1/16th on the height of the ribs.

Let us know if the shop that made yours is willing to make a few more!!

I would not be stepping back from your welding it is great no burn troughs and it looks like no warpage.
did you have to get the outside panels remade or does it match. anyhow this may be the only option we have sure hope we can move forward.
Now for the hard question which we don't have any control over what did it cost and what gauge metal is it. Best

DTFJ45 any word from the shop that did your bed floor on whether they'd be willing to produce some more?

If possible can you let us know the gauge of metal your floor is made from?

Thanks!

Here is the scoop. I can get the center floor panel made 14 gauge. The quote I have is for $265 per floor. 3 bed minimum order. I don't have anything pinned down for shipping (could use some help with this piece). It would only take about a week once the order is turned in. Thoughts?

The latest update on our PACOL connection: The bed floor has cleared Columbian customs and is awaiting transportation at the airport into south Florida. Then 2 - 3 days to clear US customs after that it ships to their shop before it is finally shipped to me. I'll keep you posted.

On a different note, that sounds like a good deal you have cookin' there DTF! If I were not committed to PACOL already I would be in on this deal. Shipping should not be too difficult. Get some 1"x 1" wood strips (about four on each side of the piece of sheet metal) then staple sheets of cardboard to these. Most shippers will take this type of package. A commercial address on the receiving end will help hold costs down.

7640 thanks for the update. Excited to see the Columbian reproduction!

DTFJ45 would you be the one boxing up the sheet metal or would it be the shop? We've got 2 folks interested in the floors lets get one more and make this happen!!

Hello everyone! Had a great chat today with a couple mudders on this thread and it looks like we are making good headway on getting beds made.

This is my question. I'm anal.... I want the repro beds to be made as close to the original as possible. I've never seen one of Awl-Tec's bed floors but it appears from DTFJ45's pictures that the "ribs" on his repro bed floor have "sides" that meet the "cap" of the rib in a very sharp angle.

I'll readily admit my bed is beat to crap from years of use on a working farm in NZ but it does appear that there is a bit of a curve where the "sides" of the ribs meet the "cap". One of the mudders called it a radius.

Not sure if it is even an option,.... but if a "radius" (I'd just call it a rounded corner) where the "side" of the rib meets the "cap" is OEM and that option is able to be reproduced buy the company that is maybe willing to do these bed floors I for one would want the "radius" (rounded edge) and thus the "more" original OEM bed floor.

So here is my question....can anyone definitively say whether the "angle" of the beds ribs where the "side" meets the "cap" had a "radius" (rounded corner), or whether it was in fact very "angular" and had a "sharp corner"? Anyone with a pristine 45 bed floor that wants to weigh in?

Any input or guesses would be awesome and a welcome!

Cheers

I would like to see a picture of the area in question.
