Enjoyed the trip. I was lucky enough to receive one additional personality mark. Not bad at all. Used the winch once too.

Here's a few pics.

so was it a bit chilly??? I was over in maggie valley and it hit 18* on the back porch sat morning..... I imagine it had to be worse for you guys!!

thanks for the great pics alex wish I could have made it............ you guys find any new trails?

oh just a wee bit chilly ;) the 2.5 gallon jugs froze inside the 80's and alex had to wait for his snickers to thaw from a block of ice :) Couple new trails, unfortunately some new dead ends as well. Two trails we explored resulted in some serious backing and precision trail turns, and unfortunately they have closed off access to wet camp by way of rough butt road, dont know bout the other side but it was "not improved" to say the least. We have a suspect trail leading from just west of the 4 way intersection to PERHAPS just southwest of the 'mud ledge' but was not verified. Next time i wanna go up behind the church, first right after the gate.

they closed the really tough trail to Wet Camp; the one we came down in august???..... if so how did they close it off?? Glad you guys had fun and cool to hear you tried some new trails!!!

The shortcut trail to wet camp? That thing was nasty, I can see how a hunting area would close that one.

It was closed by a series of huge water breaks or berms and then huge holes between about 4 of them. Trying to come down the back side of one resulted in your nose plowing into the front of the next one.

I am sure the locals will find a way around them before long :grinpimp:........... I guess the overgrown easy route up there is still open??? It be ashame to lose access completely to wet camp; it had potential to be another great camping spot.

It would be really tough to get around them. Drop-off on one side and hill side on the other. We didn't see if the gated brushy way was open. We went the other direction.

Here are a few more pics. Cool little camp cabin up in the middle of no where. It's amazing the stuff you still find after feeling like you have seen it all. :grinpimp:

When did you go up this trail? from talking to bill and others i thought you guys didnt make it back over that way on suday after the PPR. This is not simply the shortcut up to the 4-way (which is still open btw :D) but the trail that leads out from there up to wet camp. It is closed off way up top so still a worthy hour long sideshoot to do some good wheelin up and back down, plus there is a cabin just shy of where it is closed off, would make a great late arrival camp. Room for 6 vehicles maybe b/w the two cabins. JP there is one other trail that leads up to wet camp and convenes just shy of the new roadblock, but wonder if it would be possible to go up rough butt and back down the otherside, never actually getting into the saddle up there???
