Ok, feel free to make fun of me guys. But, I'm at work and don't have my digital manual here...

Can anyone help me out by getting me some torque specs?

I'm looking for:

1. The 4 radius arm bolts to the axle
2. The radius arm to the frame
3. Panhard bolts

Work has me to busy to keep up. So, I'm taking my rig to a local offroad shop to rebuild my front driveshaft and replace my radius arm bushings. Like everyone else always says... They seem like they know what they are doing and they have an genuine interest in my cruiser. I hope they do a good job.

This should be what you're looking for? Seems to be 127ftlb for all 3 spots.

Hey @Lumpskie, I’m in NH as well and I’m curious to know what shop you’re going to use.

Thanks,
Steve
I'm going to Ratchett's Offroad in Pelham. They have a little experience with 80s but are mostly a Jeep shop. That being said, Keith (the owner) has huge respect for 80s and understands the basic stuff. The shop also has a reputation for completing the details correctly.

Another local shop that surprised me was Wicked C.A.S. They started as a car audio shop but do various kinds of builds as well. They do a lot of Supras but also are doing a 40 series build and just completed a Tacoma SAS, using a flipped 80 series front axle. If you go there, tell Nas (the owner) that Justin with the diesel 80 sent you.

Radius arm bushings replace. Front driveshaft u-joints replaced. The handling now feels more stable and I am not getting any noise in corners or when I flex the suspension. That's the good.

On the other hand, I noticed a low frequency hum that becomes apparent at around 65 mph and gets louder as I increase speed. By 80, it is very noticeable, and had a cyclic kind of on/off nature to it. The hum frequency is directly related to the speed of travel, so the frequency increases with speed.

Any ideas what could be causing it?

U joints.

What brand did you use?
Were they rotating freely after install? I've had them bind a little in the yolks. OEM come with different thickness c-clips so you can adjust how tightly the end caps are fitting in the yolks and against the ends of the spider.
I've had to sand down c-clips on non OEM unis before to get them so they rotate freely

I bought Matsuba brand U joints... I heard they were OEM quality. Maybe I'm feeling the rear driveshaft?

Pull the rear driveshaft and lock the CDL and take it for a drive to know for sure.

I was going to crawl under the 80 yesterday to take a look and verify the phase of the front shaft... as well as take a look at the u-joints. But this was the weather we were having:

I'll try to take a look today. Maybe I'll throw some grease at the rear shaft and see if that changes anything.

Nice down pour. I work for the local utility company out of Derry. I was in Londonderry at an underground fault around 3:30. There was just a few rumbles of thunder and lightning and a few drops of rain. Later that night we got a call in Derry for no power, came across a tree on the line. Derry PD showed up and said the part of Derry we were in got hammered. Super isolated storm in NH yesterday afternoon.

We’ll see what tomorrow afternoon brings!

Wow, you were just down the street. I'm over in Hampstead. I had no idea you were this close in NH.

Had a close call on Friday. Driving home, I decided to pass a dump truck before lanes merged. I floored it and the Cruiser accelerated as it normally does. When I complete the pass, I noticed that it was making a strange howling sound, when in boost. The sound was really loud. I limped it home, hoping that it was a boost leak. I tightened all my turbo hose connections. No help. Here's a video of the sound:

After taking this video, I decided to take it for a test drive to diagnose. As I went down my street, I boosted it to see if I was building boost normally. (wanted to see if it hit max boost too) When I did that, the sound changed and sounded like a very loud shriek. I immediately got out of boost, pulled over and turn my rig off. I ended up getting it towed home on a flat bed. With a little trouble shooting, I found that I killed my turbo:

Hopefully, the turbo is the only damage. Looking at the cold side, you can see that the blades made contact with the housing. But, it looks like no pieces broke off.

I also see what looks like oil in the old side exit:

Looking at this, I'm pretty sure the turbo is dead. But, I still have hope that my engine is unharmed. I changed the oil and didn't find any evidence of metal in it. So, I called Australia last night and made a big order. I ordered a GTurbo Grunter Extreme, a PDI high flow intake and all the associated gaskets and hardware. I paid expedited shipping. The goal is to have the parts here by Friday. Then, with the help of a mechanic friend, swap turbos over the weekend. That will give me Monday and Tuesday to give the system a gentle test and break in. Then, on Wednesday, I am scheduled to leave for the Vermont Overland Birdwatching Safari. Hopefully, I get to take the Cruiser. If anything goes wrong in the process, I'll end up taking the Wagoneer and not really wheeling. Exciting times.

I'm scared to even ask what expedited shipping costs?!?

It wasnt' cheap... $600 AUD for 3-5 day shipment. They haven't sent me confirmation yet either, so I'm on pins and needles over here.

That's about double the cost to ship just a turbo to/from Canada, but you're getting a big bulky intake as well, and fast...not actually as bad as I would have guessed considering.

Yeah, if it wasn't for the Vermont Overland Rally schedule, I wouldn't have done it. But, as you already know, these things like to break right before big planned trips.
