This will of course be leading to the house battery for full recharging, and for tapping into DC power outside the rig. My question is who has done this and how did you go about mounting it? My situation is complicated by the fact that I will be using an Anderson "Environmental Boot" which is supposed to be strapped/clamped in place rather than screwed down. But since this still requires a mounting point I'd appreciate any pics or ideas.

(I'd rather not drill holes in the bumper due to the salty environment I'll be in, and hidden in the grill or stock bumper inlets is a plus)

I assume you have the stk bumper. I mounted one on my ARB. I welded an "L" bracket to the left vertical support and mounted one half of the Anderson connector to that. The other half went to my winch. I have the cover as well on one half but not much use as the two should be more or less always connected. There was enough room to run two 1/0 wires from the battery under the top rad support . I would try to mount some kind of "L" bracket to the inside of the stk bumper just under the driver's side small plastic vent using some type of adhesive and mount the connector to that such that you can make the connection by removing the plastic vent piece.

That's nice, thanks so much.
Yeah I knew I'd find them in ARB/bullbar bumpers mostly. Still helps me out though. I'd love to see more.

The whole plug with full boot actually fits in any of the three slots of those stock vents so no need for removal to plug in.

I hadn't though of using adhesive though, that might be fun. That's exactly what I need, more ideas!

Have the large Anderson behind the DS side bumper going to the main battery, and a smaller plug on the PS for the house battery. Mounted to captive nuts in the body, so no drilling or cutting needed. Both are switched, so only live when I want them. This is the DS side with my jumper cable plugged into it.

I mounted mine on the rear bumper wing cause it's mainly for jumping other folks (no need to go nose to nose, just pull in front)

Pix in this thread:

Anderson Plug Jumper Cables

Connected to the same solenoid that powers both front/rear winches, so it doesn't see power unless I flip the switch

I know, I saw your truck in Google Images (recognized it right away) with the cables on the hood.

HAHA! Dude, I have ideas for days :flipoff2:
Which plug are we talking about? the SB50, 175, 350?

Here is what I did for my jumper cables: HOW TO: World's Most Expensive Jumper Cables

Here is where I moved it and mounted it when I went with a heavily modified ARB bumper:

Nowadays I'm making a bunch of other SB50 related brackets and wiring:

I have ideas too (mostly sucky) I just don't want to do mine and then see a better or easier way the day after, which I'm sure I will! LOL

I'm using an SB120, connecting an outside Promariner 1250p to the house battery. I mostly go away for 12, 24 or 48 hours. So I'll be needing to refill the 100Ah house battery about every other day. This is why I want the plug-in as accessible as possible.

So far I'm seeing it going in the stock bumper vent grill mounted to the bumper bracket somehow. But remember, it has that big fat boot on it so the two screw mounting method is out. Anderson suggests using a hose clamp or similar to strap the boot to something, and then mounting the something to a sturdy mounting point.

Is it better to put the anderson connection under the vehicle behind the bumper or on the bumper?
I was thinking of running 6 awg marine wire.

I have an ARB rear bumper with those swing outs so I'm not sure how to run the line to the swing out, so that the swing out still functions?

For what use?

It isn't going to help you much unless you can find someone getting rid of theirs, but I have brackets that I bought from Wit's End (back when they were reliable and a trusted vendor- not sure they are even an ongoing concern anymore?) - Andersen mounts, weather protection (and air chucks). Very well made stuff. Maybe someone has some kicking around collecting dust in their garage?

I mounted mine on top so it's hidden behind the tire carrier

6AWG is kinda tiny

I used 1AWG welding cable

Thanks ! ..

Looking at that I figured out I can mount it on the part of my bumper right above the receiver that doesn't swing out.

You are right cables are better.
