You need to give more info or you will get answers like just go 2" body & 30mm spring spacers...

Put some hockey pucks on the springs, if if ome is to pricey you should seriously buy a jeep

lol, at least you're honest. 30mm spring spacers plus body lift will be the cheapest way to look lifted. Maybe a couple hundred bucks.

Yep, what @Heckraiser said...
Spring spacers $100
1" body lift is cheap if you piece it out. I found real body pucks for as low as $4. Look at my thread for the bolt lengths.
Next would be OME stock height springs... $300. ish new but you can find those used cheap. That's 2.5" to 3" of lit for cheap... unless you shocks are shot the stockers will be good till you start getting heavy with bumpers etc.

I used to put bricks in my 82 1st Gen sr5 4x to take pictures... it look real good when I quit messing around & used the longer ends... 6" lift right there Yah Baby...

I've got stock Springs. So if im looking to spend between 700 to 800, what height could I achieve?

(sorry guys, all I know it's exterior work) or am I kidding myself and need to stop being cheap

Well, the way I wrote in previous post you can build as you have funds...
Here have you done your reading?
Read this...

If I was going to start all over...
I would just get 30mm spring spacers & 1" body lift. (Approx. $200) No shocks, nothing else, the stock shocks extend within .5" of the OME 2.5" lifted shocks.(If you absolutely need shocks, then you really can't beat the proven OME "L" shock. They are made for an 80 series. Yes they will fit with a stock 19" free height spring plus a 30mm spacer, it's all about the free height of the spring.) Stop there untill you got educated here on mud & then pulled the trigger on a full lift later, if you decide to do so.. Go to Slee offroads website newbie section & the 80 series FAQ. J springs are a approximately a 3.5" lift that will need possibly many other things...
I have OME 851+25mm/860 which is same as a 850/860 2.5" of lift plus a 1" body lift. Yellow caster bushings (I should of stayed with OEM control bushings & did the washer mod or plates.) When they say 2.5" is max they mean it. 1" with these 80s creates a big difference.

I would only suggest two lift combos:
850J/863 for a heavy set up & a 861+30mm/862+25mm spacers for a lighter set up. L shocks will fit both these combos & both will need to lower the rear frame bump stop by 1.25" to protect the L shock from over compressing.

(EDIT: The Redline Slinky Suspension is now available in 50mm & 75mm now. I also recommend this high end high quality suspension along with the Icon shocks.)

I threw my old tired stock springs & 1" spring spacers in the other day to prove a point that you don't need a full blown lift to do 35s or 315s. (This is something I learned after I had purchased my lift.) Yes it works with the longer 26.5" L shocks & stock OEM bumpstops in front, the rear need to be lowered by 1.25"...
After DDing & wheelin around awhile I found it to be great on road, but not so great offroad. The springs are not strong enough to absorb bigger bumps before hitting the bumpstops. I was also dragging the rear bumper more often than my medium lift. The stock springs only give 1.5" of uptravel compared to the 4" my OME mediums offer.
So, soon I will be going back to my OME lift to get back to a better bump stop gap & firmer ride. This experiment was a good education for me to get a better feel of the rig.
Below is my rig with the 25mm spacers & 1" body lift. It actually needs a 30mm in the rear though.

Here is my Lexi with 2" more lift. 3.5" total lift again. The body & belly is up 1.5" more which does make a big difference. Also the shocks now have 4" of uptravel which gives a good 40/60 ration on 10" travel on a 11.3" shock

GW Nugget's Family Haulin Lexi450 build....

@GW Nugget I'm impressed with the amount of details you've gone into on the suspension. If this wasn't my first 4x4 I would have done the same. Now I hate my shocks, and my rear springs may be too stiff too. GRRR

What do you have that's to stiff?
How much weight do you carry?

I'm running 850J/864 with not enough weight day to day. I can't tell if the springs are too stiff or I just hate the harshness of the OME shock, especially in town. Could be both. Debating on which shock to swap to currently.

I've got an OEM sub tank with dual swingouts and a 33 on it. No third row and in town not much else in the back. When I go out camping there's more weight. Thought probably not nearly as much as others b/c much of my camping gear doubles as my backpacking stuff eg. ultra light. Cruisin Off-Road sliders have been ordered though, so waiting to see how those change things. As it currently sits.

As other have stated, the absolute cheapest way is via spring spacers and a body lift. When I lifted my first 80 series I bought all my components individually over several months to break up the expense. The best thing to do is to think about what you want to achieve and how you will use the truck to minimize your expenses. @GW Nugget has made some good suggestions already and his If I was to start all over again, I would... thread has a lot of good information in it.

GW Nugger and Diggs both have ideal heights that im looking for. Here is the current height and outfit im sporting on my cruiser. not traditional looking but its my taste. have to add the riveted flares and the lift then im done. What are we taking on price for either set up.

That's actually pretty cool looking.
He wrote he is a body guy.

For a cool mall crawler I would skip the body lift & go with the Old Man Emu stock height springs 861/862 30mm front spring spacer & 25mm rear. This will be approx. 2" lift.
I've heard that the stock shocks give the best on road ride. Get new ones if needed.
I would start there.

It's like a retro 5th gen 4runner. I can't decide if I love it or not. But I'm curious if it's still legal with the shaved corners up front and the marker light in back gone. Also what is on the back of the mirror?
