Purchased in Texas, 2011, as a frame up restored 1966 FJ-45.
It is somewhat less than that,,, and way more at the same time.
It was undercoated in 2011, here on Long Island.
This is a modified FJ45 with a frame date of 1964 and originally registered in 1966, as a 66.
8 years into it I found rust pushing up from underneath body fill and learned just how much was covered instead of restored. After replacing the windshield frame everything but the tub and bed was removed, sandblasted, zinc coated and repainted before being reassembled. This was when I learned the windshield, doors, fenders and panels forward of the cab are later model FJ’s. As they are all interchangeable, only an experienced owner would notice the differences I was not aware of when I purchased it. However, all parts are Landcruiser, and upgrades from the originals.
All steal, no aluminum parts.
I personally did most of the work, 2016 – 2019, and I can answer most any questions you might have. It has been my college degree in land cruisers.
This Cruiser has a newly rebuilt 2-F engine (2025) mated to an H-55, 5 speed transmissions, and a 3” stainless steel exhaust.
There is a good 400 lbs. of roll cage, brush guard and bumpers which makes for a smooth highway ride. The suspension has been customized with an Old Man Emu 4" lift and front shackle reversal kit that makes off-roading a breeze. Attached is a Warn, 800lb winch. Disk upgrade to the front brakes, ARB hub locks as well as front and rear deferential lockers, and 33” tires.
Currently: the bed has some rust that will need to be addressed but it is an extremely roadworthy truck. Most of the mileage I put on it has been highway mileage. I use it for trips out of state and camped out of the back.
This is not a show truck. It is a use the f*** out of, have yourself a blast truck.
The truth is I don’t want to get rid of it, but I have gotten old and unable to keep up with or enjoy it. It needs a good home, and I need to get it done, so I figured I’d start here because all the work I have done, and everything about it has been documented here.
I have all kinds of spare parts, including another complete 2F, which can go with it or be sold separate.
If you are seriously interested, we can start a conversation and come up with a price.
