I locked my keys in my truck this morning. Before I pay CAA 50$ to open my truck, I was hoping someone had some creative solutions from prior experience. It's a 1990 PU, no power options. Thanks.

wing window? Get a metal coat hanger. Straighten and bend the end into a V ( about 4" per side) with the free end to the right, bend that V 90 degrees to the wire. Bend the very end (last .5 inch or so) of the V back towards the straight wire, so it makes a little hook.

Feed the wire thru the window moulding, use the bend closest to the straigh part of the hanger to pull in on the button, while twisting the little hook and pop the wing window latch. Reach in and unlock door.

rear slider? Push a small wire thru the gap between the windows and jiggle the latch loose. Open slider window, unlock doors.

ha ha ha... sure... some we'll post all over the internet...

If you have the sliding rear window, I'd try to pop that open first. A new clasp for the window is probably less than $50... I used to have a piece of wire bent right to open my 86 pickup, but I practiced a lot with the door panel off so I could see... Good luck!

Not your truck I know, but first gen Hilux could be opened by sticking a pencil into one of the door handle holes. Toyota did issued a fix for that, but I wonder how many people did it.

coat hanger through top of door, press the unlock button?

Stop stealing trucks, some day some one will stomp your nuts out of your ass :flipoff2:

The backglass can easily be removed by using a hook tool or mini flat head to pry the rubber gasket away from the pinchweld. The glass is tempered and can be easily reinstalled using a 1/4"rope and an extra hand.

P.S. I had to do this last week

I suppose this might be an option if the truck was sitting in your driveway/garage on a warm day. Last time I locked myself out, it was at 9:00 pm in a Lowes parking lot. My toolbox was also locked, so I couldn't get to my tools. And it was about 15 degrees out, and the store had just closed. I thought about peeling that gasket out with my Gerber multi-tool, but it was too stiff and my hands were too darned cold. Fortunatly my wife was not far away with a spare key, so I walked over to the restaurant across the parking lot and had a cold one while waiting for her.

There's now a spare key ziptied in a hiding place.

When I've been in situations where keys are locked in a vehicle, I usually just walk to the nearest shop and ask them if they have any packing strap. Then explain to them what it is. They then cut some off a box.

I double it over, and push it between the body and door seal, slip it around the lock button, pull tightly, then slide upwards. It's never failed me yet.
