Guys- Not sure if this is the place to post my request.

I am looking for a reasonable mechanic to begin my quest of rebuilding my 76' piggy. I am located in California, South Bay area. Here is what I am looking for.

- Possible engine swap (350)
- PS install
- Rear brake conversion
- other misc things

If anyone knows of a good reliable (did I metioned CHEAP :p) mechanic, please let me know.

Thank you for your time.

When you find this mythical person I wouldn't share the info around as he'll get real busy!!!

Are you in So Cal or Southern Bay Area like San Jose-ish?

If you're near or in So Cal, I strongly believe the best is Richard Kirkpatrick at K&H Imports in Canoga Park. He's been my guy for 15 years and has been working on LCs since '65. He's the best, most honest mechanic I've ever worked with, and his guys are great too.

not sure of locations of anybody, but there is orange45(georg) or mark algazy?

Georg is on the south east side of Stockton, east of the SF Bay area, I have not met Mark Algazy and don't know where he is.

GUys,

My approx. location is Long Beach.

What is the going rate for labor on a 350 engine swap?

What combonation have you guys used or heard of?

- Engine
- Tranny
- T-Case

Thanks,
Jaime
Howdy! I am running a Ranger Underdrive from AA between my 350 and the original transmission and transfer. Not for sure, but I think you can position it so the Driveshafts can be reused. I installed my 350 after I had the SOA done, so I can's say for sure on stock/near stock suspension. Lots of us have done upgrades for the radiator, and power steering is nice to add while your doing all this. The list just goes on and on.

The most important (and hardest) question to answer is how and where you want to drive when it is all done. Do you just want a very fast old station wagon, an ultimate rock crawler, mug bogger, expedition rig? With enough time, imagination, and $$$$$$, you can do just about anything. John

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ How big is the bank account?
New V8 Crate Motor $5k -$6k
New Toyota H55 Trans $1600 Plus
Rebuilt Transfer Case $1000 plus

And thats without labor and everything that goes along with the install.

In the end your journey will be fun, exciting, expensive. addictive and a learning experience.

Welcome

Lou
