what i am bringing out is that the young can be the source of rebellion ...
and, with the way the government blows our tax money, if they want to blow a bit on education that is better than some of the other wastes they fund.
While I occasionally complain about still being attached to Royalty I also have to reflect and thank our lucky stars that that is our heritage and Canada is my home. I look around the world and there are a hell of a lot (all) who have it bad. We have it pretty damn good here. I tire of people who should be rejoicing at the quality of their life yet they cry the blues about how bad things are.

And those kids in Quebec protestiing their stupid low tuition fees.....Geebus, what are you talking about Wayne? Talk about sucking on the public teat, WE pay that subsidy dude. If they think that everyone deserves free post secondary education, who's gonna pay for that?

owen sound:
gas $1.42
diesel $1.26
<for now>

guess i won't be selling the Yaris just yet...

BTW, there is a little thing called NAFTA that removed most tariffs between Canada/US/Mexico trade.

Duty's & Tariffs have two different words and meanings !
NAFTA was duty removal or duty shifted as a hidden tax till GST then moved it to a forward tax.
Tariffs are paid to the Crown , & Chucky with all his accountants just checked the Canadian Books, got cut a cheque I'm sure.

MATH , Canada population less than California ,or England and even if you include Great Britain . OIL / Fuel , Hydro , Forest products sold as an EXPORT , Canada sells 85% of USA's daily fuel , but were not a rich like the Middle East ?? Where are all the royalties being siphoned off to ?

You being in BC also should know fancy libertarian words as in Levy's,Environmental, recycling, fuel surcharges, improvement ,and port fee's can be taxed @ 12% so it's not looking like a Tax on Tax !! ( BC= Bring Cash & Lots) No other province has the amount of extra tagged on user fees as BC .

Please , Politicians run the legalize lip service .

Go to wally-world in Canada , buy a 81131-31911 12volt garden tractor battery (Made in Mexico ) with all the BC hoopla 57.76 CDN. The same battery from Wally-world Mount Vernon cost me 23.86 USD last week BUT !!!!

Now hold on to common sense from the european thinking . I had to return the same battery so I didn't get charged 9.00 core .(just to keep the old lead and acids out of the marinas & landfills) .

I Dive under many salt chuck marinas in BC, there's a lead field to be seen..
Tire / battery levy's IN BC do NOTHING to keep BC clean, Plz don't look in downtown YVR , that is pin head of sizing in BC.

I would not bitch if there was money collected for a service really provided. (I recycle ,live rural, ranch & know where food comes from)

You see the TV program on Fuel in BC Canada ? 68% tax rate at federal-provincial-territorial regional all added up..Plus Royalties to the "Crown " .. now look at your pay stub.

Your correct on 'I'm lucky for (WA & BC) Going down next week since limits have been raised to 800.00 per person. Buying Vinyl rail fencing , made in Canada , 1/3 the cost in USA @ Lowes or Home Destruction . Border guys know & also shake their heads at the red maple leaf sticker "Fait au Kanda "

nah, Dawson Creek and Saskatoon is the places to be now ...
Alberta is living on a balloon economy, has been since the last boom went BOOM.

i know what you mean, i don't get a pay stub. being self employed i get the joy of giving up a big chunk of my earnings to taxes AND the headaches of trying to earn an income without the security of a steady 40 hour week.

$4.11/gal in Kamiah ID today

I'm from PEI and I know for the last century, it and the rest of the Atlantic provinces have been sending half the youth to other places to work, earn a living and raise a family. in the 30's and 40's and 50's, most of this movement was to the New England states and Boston in particular. Since then, it's been Ontario, Alberta and BC that have seen this migration.

This isn't new.

It was 1.409 for diesel and 1.459 for 87 gas at Superstore in Pitt Meadows. Screw-em. I was going to Bellingham for groceries anyway, so I filled up at my usual station for 4.07 (ie 1.074). I don't understand the price of milk sometimes, but I don't get how some people (east indians especially, I notice) can drink so much milk!! My girls just go through 8 litres a week. But I saw a lady fill up her grocery cart with 10 bottles of milk!! That's right, TEN! That's 40 litres of milk! And her kids were just tiny.

According to my statement the diesel before tax at Lickman rd is $1/L... Tax is .2139/L... there is also a .04/l fee but I don't know what it is for.

Agreed Wayne. Think what you may of the students in Quebec, but you got to love their creative way of standing up for what they believe, in true MUD fashion... :D

rebellion, since the late 60s has been a young persons fight. yah, some old farts get involved but it is the young that have the energy and the ability to be moved by insperation (good or bad) where as us, with the gray hair, are more stuck in our ways and, so it seems, are more worried about loosing what we have aquired over the decades.

can you picture the change a few hundred thousand kids could achieve?

Yes Mr KIM

But when I was in Labrador ,Newfoundland,PEI ect. It's a dying "Village " Town , Most of the folks I spoke with were middle aged 50+ and they knew there kids were NEVER going to return. That is very poor. Many starter homes for sale and young are leaving again here.
KIM , I don't have an answer , but the village i live in suffers. Gold River BC was decimated empty when the mill was pulled to Asia. Good Show to View

I spent many weekends getting a petition signed for tell our BC DICTATORS that the new TAX on everything was not popular with the people, I must of spent 60 hrs in BC's wet sunshine . Now Look we won and 2.5 years later were still paying 12% tax on salted bulk peanuts ~~~~~~~

So you hear the NEW LIP SERVICE for the 15 cent increase ?? Canada / BC hasn't got a refinery and the Washington state one is closed for servicing ..
Strange that I just fuel up in Mount Vernon at 3.99 / USG but up here on the Island Rock 1.43 L as I just pasted . This was today.
Back to USA on Friday , The fuel in Washington is from Alberta !!!

Now GET back to work and pay your tax!! Politicians need it ..

BC has two refineries. The Chevron one in Burnaby and the Husky Energy one in Prince George. This perhaps explains why diesel is selling cheaper in the North West as reported by ForealBoreal. Whatever the reason, the industry is able to keep the prices artificially inflated by always giving the reason of limited refining capacity. In essence, this is another form of price fixing. If they can keep a situation of greater demand over supply, the market price will always be higher than what it should be related to the current price of crude. It's Econ 101. You don't see any of the companies ramping up production becuase they know that as soon as they do, their profit margins per volume will be dramtically reduced.

Very true , Plus the Refinery's in Washington state are back to full production since the fire in the Northwest one. It came back on line in Mid May and the price is dropping (so they say in Washington state to what the rest of the USA is receiving .

The Lip service Canadian NEWS Spews is inconsistent of whats happening. I'm between the two country's weekly .

Today fuel went down again in Everett from 4.27 last wed leaving, to 4.05 , just noticed on the drive in to the base.

1.39/9 in mid island BC.
