they don't "need" probable cause, it is a road side check same as the road side checks to see if your seat belt is fastened or if you have been drinking.

what? you think we live in the land of the free? think again.

If it has dye, road tax has not been paid on it, so it cannot legally be used on a road that is funded by taxes...unless it is heavy equipment or farm equipment-the only exemption for Idaho that I know of.
It's the same overhere in Belgium. There is road legal diesel= green and farmer diesel= red. The green costs about €1.45 L and the red costs €0.6 L.
It is checked bij cuctoms en when they have suspicion of fraude, they may even check your fuel filter...
And when they find proof you will be find for the amound of 4 years driving...
They can calculate it because whe have to do a technical checkup every year at a independant organisation for de compleet car... Lights, brakes, suspension, overall state of the car, en when passed no prob's, if you get a red card, 15 days tho repair or end off career for your wheels...

$1.25 diesel yesterday
$1.41 gasoline at the same location

greedy SOB ...

Yes, I noticed Diesel and Gas were neck and neck here in Abbotsford at 127.9 at Esso. The same day in Princeton (about 230 kms west of Abbotsford), Gas was $137.9 and Diesel was $127.9 at the Mohawk. One place has a 10 cent price spread and the other none. WTF?

Now winter is over, Diesel should be getting a lot cheaper than Gasoline. More and more I am starting to think that prices are not the result of supply and demand but the result of fuel companies manufacturing prices better than they manufacture fuel.

Diesel $4.38, Premium gas $4.11 in Moscow ID

gas $1.29.9
diesel $1.31.9

i would rather still drive a diesel since the flucuations is more like a gently rolling sea than a friggin heart beat.

as i thought , more examples from the communist state we live in Ja?
Nein. We live in a society with laws, it has nothing to do with communism. If you want to live here, then you don't have the option of obeying some laws and exempting yourself from those you don't like. If you're breaking the law and you get caught then you deserve the consequences. We live in a land with a lot more freedom than most of the rest of the world. That freedom isn't for free, that's why we have laws and taxes. If you don't like that move somewhere else.
Fuel is real cheap in Venezuela and Kazakhstan.

no, it doesn't have anything to do with communism, it is capitalism better known as GREED.
we do not have taxes for freedom, never kid yourself. we have taxes because of GREED.
we have laws to control people.
we do not live in the land of the 'free', that is catch phrase that has stuck for decades. we are not free, we are slaves to our government. don't believe me take a look at your paycheck. the government imposes more and more taxes and fees and permits on us ever year, these are NOT for our benefit. these are only money to go into the government slush fund. this slush fund is used for what ever purpose the government feel fit to use it for without any input from the people that are force to contribute.
yes, we have the choice to live here or leave. most of us have family and lives here that make it very difficult to just pick up and move. some of us are taxed to the point where we don't have the funds to make the move even if we wanted to. the government knows this.
we are NOT free.
laws are not made to PROTECT us, they are made to CONTROL us, they are made to keep us SUBDUED.
Greed RULES North America

diesel: $1.22.9
gas: $1.26.9

life goes on.

Bravo, Wayne, I could not have said it better myself. Except perhaps than to say that the real rulers are NOT those in the government, they are just puppets doing the bidding of the real masters of this world, the financiers who make billions in the shadows and flick the economy the way they see fit. How do I know that? From the horse's own mouth. I witnessed the crash of October 87 and it happened exactly like Mr Desmarais, on whose house I was working at the time, candidly said it would: "People are making too much money, we aren't making as much and it has to stop"

exactly,
all politicians are puppets in almost every country. they are there to give the populations a warm and fuzzy false sense of trust.
(when was the last time a really butt ugly prime minister or president was elected?)
they don't have to be smart, they don't have to have common sense, all they need is good looks and charisma.

and the people carry on in their extremely busy lives working and struggling to get ahead watching more and more of their hard earned $ being sucked back into the void ... slaves are what we are.

In my region of Canada the tax on fuel is returned to the municipalities to upgrade vehicular infrastructure and make public transit less expensive for users and more efficient for the operators.

and .... you have seen this at work?
what i am saying is the infrastructure is immaculate? the amount of money the government makes off fuel should lead to amazing infrastructure and i have yet to see this in any province in Canada ... if anything i have watched over 30 years as the roads get worse and worse with each passing decade.

but, what ever makes you feel good about taxes is fine by me.
