Nice representing the SoCal 80's!

The only thing I can see that may become a concern is the length of the swing out arm. That is some major strain on the spindle. I notice how that can become a problem on my Hanna. I have to re-tighten the Crown nut every so often and replace the cotter pin.

Thanks brother. I am not sure about the rating on Ken's but I am sure his is more than adequate too but Luke's is rated at 3500 lbs so the weight and leverage should be no problem for it. That is unusual that you have had to re-tighten your castle nut. Probably just the bearings pre-load being a little low and as it works it's way into the loades position it is creating some slop. It is impossible for tapered bearings to continually loosen without creating bind in the bearings if the castle nut is cotter pinned properly. Assuming no catastrophic failure of course. I would keep an eye on it but you should see it stop. ;)

Now get back to work on mine!

Fuscia or hot pink? :flipoff2:

So after that work of art, what are you gonna do up front?

Probably copy Christo's bad ass Short Bus bumper. :flipoff2:

Oh, if I only had a Lexus. . . then hot pink would go with my panties:D

How about color matched to the truck to really push the white 80 image:rolleyes:

How much? You need to market them! Awesome.

Later,

Very Very nice......clean and well thought out. Man do I need one.......if I only had 100 hours:hhmm:

How much does it weigh without the tire or the jack?
How much lower did your truck sit after install?

Well then I guess your only downside would be the extra two steps you have to take around that big old swing arm when you are loading up the truck! :flipoff2: :flipoff2::flipoff2:

OH and Damn it, Castle Nut Not crown nut.
I am such a :wrench: (TOOL)

Bluetribal,

you must have one of the old bumpers. All of Hanna's new bumpers have significantly larger spindles.
that is odd that the castle nut loosens. I have never had that happen and I remove my 2nd carrier swingout and re-install a few times.

Us tall folk only have an extra half step. Keeps me in better shape anyway. :flipoff2:

He got his used so it is very possible that he has one of the older ones.

Appologize, I forgot to answer your questions.

Not sure on the exact but without the tire or the jack it is about 200lbs +/-. I accepted a little more weight than was absolutely neccessary to have a more bomb proof set up.

I have the Slee 6" and from nothing in the back to this set up it came down about 1" or so. Just a tad higher in the rear but perfectly balanced front to rear with just a little extra out back for when I load it down to go wheeling, just like Christo said they would.

Took it out for a beating of sorts last weekend and it did awesome. Took a few hard shots directly from the side and kept some big rocks out of the rear quarters. I am so happy to finally have some good protection for the tail end of my beloved 80.

1. Good clearance for the tires.

2. Doesn't show the rear but it helped here too.

3. Hard to see but it even works on trees. :D

Very nice!

Yer rear tire don't have much wiggle room when it's stuffed....

You have talent!!!! That looks awesome. Which I had the tools to try something like that.

The "tools"? or the Nuts? lol;)

Thanks.

LOL It is tight. I actually showed some foresight  and made the bumper wings 1" short of the back of the wheel well in anticipation of trimming up the fenders to get that little extra room.

gotta ask slomo, 17" FJC steelies?

sick a$$ bumper! dayum!

(edit, just saw the sig, lol, those mojaves look like the fjc steelies)

Thank you both for the kind words. The only steelie I have is actually a 16" that came with my truck on the spare underneath when it was bone stock. Not sure how it got there.
