I have searched a ton and can't find the specific answer to my question.

I don't know if this is even possible.

My cruiser will be set up for medium trail use (nothing I'd bash sheet metal on) and driving around town. I'd like to keep my rear fenders uncut, have room for 35" tires, keep it SUA, and do a shackle reverse.

Is it possible to accomplish this and if so, what lift would you recommend? I wouldn't mind using bumpstops to keep the tires out of the wheelwells if that's what it takes.

Well, what's the word?

Only if you can find 35x10.5 tires. 12.5" tires will rub in the rear. I ran 33x10.5" on my last truck (uncut). Just my .02.

later,

you should be able to find the answer if you search, theres one of these threads about twice a week.... keep on looking and answers you shall find...

I have searched and searched. I'm not being lazy. I can't seem to find the answer to my particular combination and needs. Do you know?

That's an option. I really wouldn't mind going to a smaller tire if I had to. I'd rather go with a narrow 35" tire though. What do you think about bumpstops to limit the tire travel into the wheelwell.

It's strange, I've alway been pushing for more travel and now I'm thinking how to limit it to get what i want!

Hi All:

Check-out some of the metric sized tires; there are some that are tall and narrow. Most of these will require a 16 inch rim AFAIN.

I have acouple of 'Cruiser buddies runningthe four inch "Hell For Stout" lift kit from CCOT. You might consider this option.

Good luck!

4 inch sua spring lift will get you there if you keep rear tires under 10.50 wide. Interco makes the Bogger and the SSR in 35.x10.50 15 size. BFGoodrich used to make 35x10.50 15s in the MT, but I beleive the've discontinued this? I run 33x10.50 Boggers on 2.5" sua and they flex pretty well with no rubbing.

HFS and BDS are both decent lifts- I think both are just over $1k for 4" springs and shocks.

If you have the tools and the no how, you could do SOA (SPRING OVER):grinpimp:

I have been wondering the same question except i want 35x14.50's on a 10 inch wide wheel. I thought maybe we could do 4" springs and maybe 1.5 or 2.5" Shackles? Anyone tried this to clear the extra size?

Well I no this guy whos run almost that kind of set up, he had to cut the rear so the tire doesnt it. but it still hit so if I was you I would not run 35sx14 on a 4 in lift

(But thats just me!)

Alright. I'm about to drop close to $2000.00 to get this done so let me know if I'm right. This is the plan, 4" ccot hfs lift with 1.5 shackles, front, 2.5 shackles in the rear. And I;m still planning on 33.12.50 15 st radials or same in good year mtrs. At least I've narrowed it down a bit LOL

And please, If this is out of line, tell me. I won't know if you don't. Thanks

I've got the abilities to do the spring over but I'm actually backing off a bit with this rig as far as off-roading capabilities. My last rig was a samurai with 35" tires, dual tcases, 22r, toy axles, etc, etc, etc. I'm thinking I want to keep this one SUA so I don't have to worry about axle wrap and such. I'm shooting for a solid all around rig with this FJ and I may be wrong but am thinking keeping the SUA is the way to go.

Thanks for the info. I'm asuming they aren't but are your rear fenders cut? Do you know what backspacing you are using to keep the tires tucked in? Do you get any rubbing in the front when steering?

Thanks again!

Fenders are stock fr/rr. Stock steel rim w/ hubcaps (15x5.5, 3.5" backspacing). 68 model, so drums all around. At full lock to the left, the front passenger sidewall touches the tie rod zerk fitting- just enough to shine it up a bit. No power steering, so I'm not a full lock that often :D . At full articulation, tires are narrow enough to tuck up into the rear wheel well without touching the lip of the sheetmetal. Lift is courtesy of PO- unkown brand, stock shackles, no reversal.

Looks great! Thanks for the details and the picture. I like the look of your combination.

Sound good, HFS is a good suspension. Not sure if you need different size shackles though, why not 2.5 on both?

This thing tends to run up hill just a bit and I thought maybe this slight difference might level it out a bit. But I'll gladly listen to and appreciate any suggestions.
