Jeori told Todd that this truck needed the axles gone through and the rear….other than the springs being off were in pretty good shape. The front though…..yeah. It was in bad shape.

The rotors were almost done. As were the pads.

I did not clean this birf or the knuckle. It was empty of grease. Never seen that before. Usually soup. Not empty.

All good now. Sitting in the parts washer tonight. Will clean and paint tomorrow. Long productive day.

They fit without them but they are likely going to rub the tub without them. They are 4” BS and the tires have a little girth. Once I get the lift on it I’ll know. I have a set of 1” ready in case.

Nice! I have a BJ70 and an extra set of those wheels, I might give it a shot! I always thought all the new wheels rub the tie rod ends on the older gen LC’s…maybe it’s just the alloy ones

Had to work my day job this morning then had a fun Instagram interview with the_cruiser_cult guys from 11-12. Never done that before but if you are on Instagram check it out.

Next I got a visit from my old buddy @gcat and his smoking hit wife.

I finally got to start yanking parts out of the cleaner about 2 pm. Hit them with the pressure washer and moved them to the paint booth

Paint drying I loosed the frozen front sway bar with my cut off wheel. I’ll be getting a new set up for this. It will be too short and it was trash. Beno sent bushings.

I’ve got it all laid out and I’m waiting for another box of parts to hit before I start putting it all back together. Hopefully that will happen tomorrow and Wednesday

Great to see you, Nolen, and to finally see Tilda Bogue and your hoard of Cruisers in-person. Jae is smitten with the entire setup…sorry to miss Julie.

For me, it’s Ol’ Blue that isn’t done justice in (phenomenal) photos…in-person, that truck is way sexier than I ever gave it credit for.

Jae’s favorite:

Got the offset fairlead in and installed while waiting for UPS to drop the rest of the axle parts.

Started on the front then realized I had no pads. One of these is reman one is new. Can’t tell which is which..

It’s nice you can take these off in one piece so a dummy like me can put the new ones together correctly

One side down. Headed out to see @Ozark cruiser tomorrow to grab some drawers for this thing. I’ll get it rolling Saturday it seems

Oh, and this thing was in my driveway when I came home from the powder coater

A few weeks ago I bought 2 sets of 200 series Dobinsons drawers. One set for my truck and one minus the wing set for this one. Turned out it was too wide. My bad. Measured wrong.

Jason had a generic set of drawers in stock so I decided to just drive up and grab them and take a break from the shop.

Took the 60. I’ve done a bunch of mods to it lately and it needed a good shake down

I picked up the drawers. Dropped off some 3rd members for ARBs, swapped out my monster Snowmaster fridge for a smaller National Luna 50 Jason had in stock. Good trip. Zero issues on the 60 on the 800 mile trip.

Got home. Unpacked and spent 4 hours on the 70.

Buttoned up the rear axle. Adjusted the drums/parking brake. Filled both axles with 90wt. Greased it up. Added new soft brake lines. Had to replace one hard line. Installed a set of ARB diff breathers

Good productive afternoon. Pads Beno had ordered arrived late but I’ll be able to add them tomorrow and bleed the brakes and have a driver again

Buttoned it all up this morning with shiny new OEM pads, hoses and hard lines.

If you don’t have a Motive vacuum bleeder in your tool kit, get one. This makes bleeding out a whole brake system a 15 minute one man job

I got it off the lift and Cowboy gave it a one over for mice and such

Then I popped these new pedal pads on for a brake burn in test drive

The test drive to the car wash and through town then back home went great. It was only a 25K loop but the brakes got seasoned and I got to see how the stinker likes the 285/75-17s on the road.

110 indicated was a sweet spot for the truck. It seems to like 2500 RPM kinda like a 2F does
0CC8AE20-8C86-49D3-ACEC-F9CD459FBA85.jpeg

I snuck it up to 120 indicated and that’s about all she wrote with this setup. It’s not working it at these RPMs it just runs out of umph (ac is also blasting)

The FJCruiser 4” BS wheels with these tires just clears the TREs and wheel weights but i could tell the limited driving I did pre axle rebuild that the rear tires had rubbed the inner wheel well/tub and the exhaust. I added the 1” spacers and everything seems happy and I like the stance.

This motor makes zero smoke and is incredibly quiet for a diesel. Inside the cab is nice and cool with this bad ass AC Jeori installed and it’s remarkably quiet.

which m/c adapter do you use on the toyota reservoir's for the pressure bleeder?

The master on this truck looks the same as the non ABS 80 series I use on all my 40/55 projects and this adapter fit perfectly

FYI, FromtRunner makes a set of drawers that fit nicely in the back.

Cheers
Although Todd has not cut a single corner on this build in my opinion we did save $1100 using the Dobinsons drawers versus the FrontRunner and they are not quite as tall as those. Not that it matters on height. There is tons of room back there with either setup.

I too was pretty surprised at how quiet these FRP models are.

hows it ride compared to your 60?
I have to get the suspension on to know that answer
