Question for you guys... Did anybody use those 180 degree bent tubes? In the kits they have two of them and just not seeing where I might need it.

I found a company that has all the 304, 16 gauge tubes, flanges, etc. Anything else I should be thinking about. The internet is all over the map in regards to dia, I'm thinking just go 2 1/2" all the way through.

Any more thoughts, suggestions, comments.

Thanks Guys!

Dang, I want to ask some questions about my exhaust and all I think about are BLINKERS...Thanks Bob.

OK, where would you put the flex pipe in the line. Right after the two to one collector or down the line?

JMack what are PPE v- bands. I've seen the bands that have two rings, that get welded on the pipe, are those the ones of which you speak?

PPE has an interlocking V-Band, it’s the inner raised and countersunk sections that help with sealing and assembly.

Others have smooth faces, I think they work just as well at the end of the day.

Ron,

Yes I used the 180 bends, basically I cut the sections of the radius like a pie to get the small sections of bend I needed to negotiate around obstacles. I can take pictures if this half assed description isn’t clear.

My flex pipe is right where the pipe turns horizontal, no good reason, it just looked right.

JMack,

Understand completely. I was thinking if it would be wise to put the flex pipe right after the collector. That way I could use a v band on either side of it. I looked up those PPE bands, seem they are only for the larger dia. pipe.

I don't like cutting SS and have several different instruments of destruction, what did you use the most to cut? I've got a big bandsaw with expensive blades, hand bandsaw, cut off saw. I guess whatever works. Cutting those angles correctly is going to be the headache.

Thanks again!

I used a big band saw with a Starrett blade and it's still going strong.
Get a hose clamp that fits the pipe you're working with and clamp it on the pipe where you want to make the cut, mark the pipe with a Sharpe on the edge of the clamp and this will give you a straight line across the radius of the pipe if that makes sense. basically you what all your cuts to still have a round end the ID of your tube so you need to make straight cuts in the radius. I know I'm not explaining it well and I will look up something on the interweb if you need something better.

Bandsaw it is. I like the idea of the hose clamp, that's problem with the porta- bandsaw, you have a hard time keeping it straight.

David, thanks for the link, if I can find some all SS in a 2.5" band, I'd be good.

WOW! they are high, I thought the 40 dollar one was bad. That's the one I was talking about at Columbia River.

I can justify the $160 for clamps, starts to hurt at $400.

Thanks Guys, a lot of good information. Going to start ordering parts. Somewhat out of my comfort zone, but that's the way you learn. The only thing I haven't decided on is the muffler. Thought I'd wait until I get there and see what style will work. As far as center in or offset.

Bob, I'm thinking on going with one of those builder kits. Should give me plenty of options on bends.
