I'm always interested to see what folks put together for the rear of their Cruiser. Starting out, we had a spare tire, cooler, and boxes for storage. More than 10 years later, I've got my storage configuration pretty close to where I want it.

1/2" Birch ply with a interior matching paint.
Both the drawer and fridge are on 40" slides with 250lb capacity.
The top of the drawer is the same height as the back of the 2nd row when laid flat. This allows for sleeping in the Cruiser when necessary. I wanted the fridge down as low as possible for accessibility whether in or slide out.
Medical bag is in the lower left for quick access.

Yoga mat in the bottom of the drawer. I've put most of the loose items in bags and labeled them. The DeWalt box is my recovery gear. The plan is to move that gear to tailgate storage.

Camp kitchen, sleeping bags, chairs, tents, firepit, wood, etc. goes in my trailer.

Actively adding a drawer/platform.
Pulled the third row seats.

Sound deadened with butyl and foam (in progress pic).

Added 36”, locking, 500lb slides. Wanted to just have one single storage compartment.

Still need to clean it up and carpet it up.

Did you add sound deadener behind the interior panels as well?
Just on the backside of the body. All the metal bits. The plastic interior panels I’m just leaving as is. Probably overkill on top of already overkill to do the interior panels.

Just a suggestion, it is highly recommended to keep recovery gear accessible from the drivers position. A recovery gear bag that sits well on top of other gear within reach is nice. I have been in situations where accessing the tools of recovery would have been difficult, treacherous, and/or impossible if it had required opening the rear.

Made mine out of 12mm Birch with sliderless drawers. Relatively light for the capacity and cheap to build. UMHW slides for the drawers. Slide out table above the fridge.

dont have the pics of my old DIY single draw but I put the Titan branded drawers in about 8 years ago now and theyve been great - for $290 back then could not have made them for that
Left hand top is a fridge slide but I have a Waeco slide that ive bolted on the right hand side

Picture below isnt my car but its identical

I need to get busy…

Mixture of 12, 10 and 6mm birch ply with heavy duty slides. This was my 4th iteration. Very influenced by Trekboxx. Would have bout one if I could but being in the uk made it too costly.

Was going to say similar

The plan is to move that gear to tailgate storage.

In a previous cruiser, I had all my recovery gear in the tail gate. On occasions it was sketchy AF opening both parts of the tailgate to get gear out of the lower gate. 1, because the steep incline made any loose gear want to tumble out the back on top of me.
2, because, steep incline meant the vehicle was at risk of shifting with someone behind it.
Also, It made the tail gate quite heavy to open and close. Not a one handed operation, and not something my girlfriend at the time could manage easily.

If I were to do the same again, I would be sourcing lightweight gear. Stuff like soft shackles, dyneema winch extension rope, alloy snatch block/rings, dyneema winch rope, etc etc

What are the rails under the fridge? They look like traditional drawer slides turned sideways.
Yes it’s 3 HD slides laying flat. I did this to keep the drawer box as narrow as possible.

Here is mine. Pretty simple set up I put together a few years ago.
It is designed to be configured with no back seats, one back seat, or both back seats.
Made of plywood with outdoor carpet. The unique part about mine is that I lined the top with yoga mat before I laid the carpet down. This makes the surface very soft and I don’t have to worry about banging or hurting my knees on the wood.
It’s a two drawer system. All my tools are on the driver side drawer and some limited camping gear on the passenger side drawer.
I keep my air compressor and recovery gear behind the driver seat.

Not bad for putting it together with no plans in a day.
I honestly don’t really need the drawers but having a sleeping platform has been a game changer.
Now I don’t bother bringing a tent. I have lived out of the truck in this configuration for weeks at a time on multiple cross country trips in the last few years.

What carpet is everyone using for drawers? it all looks nicer than the stretchy stuff I've used for speaker enclosures.
I haven't looked but I want to cover the top of my drawer system with a nice outdoor carpet with padding underneath.

I used the outdoor carpet from home depot
It is very cheap because for the amount of material you get.
I used the light brown like the photos above and used the darker brown on my other vehicle.
I use the yoga mat from Walmart because it’s thicker. And it is mold proof.
