Any of you guys run your painted wheels in deep mud? My factory wheels are not looking so great, but I am concerned that the paint would just get scoured off in the slop.

The white wheels are on my truck. They come from 3rd generation 4runners spare wheels. There were 3 different types, so took a little work to get 5 of the same wheels. I have run them with and without spacers, spacers push them out and give it a little more of a bold stance, currently running without them. I ran them with 285/75r16, this picture is with the current tires, 315 75 r16 bfg ta ko2.

Also, just started mocking up hubcap clips on FJ cruiser steelies on my Fj45. I like steel wheels.

Do you have a write up for "mocking up" clips on steelies? Looking to do that for my 79' possibly. Also, you have to run spacers on your 45 series with FJ steelies right?

Refinishing wheels in Vancouver area is not cheap - does anyone have:
1 - factory specs on finish? (colors? clear? etc); and/or
2 - recommendation for a shop to do the work?

For what I've been quoted I can buy new SR8 wheels and look like a fanboy of BoxRocket.

just finished up my grill and wheel project.

No I am not they are perfect with no flares
Good to know. What about rubbing on the frame? Have you tested that?
I am looking at maybe going to a 35x10.5 tire but only available in a 17" wheel so I initially am looking at those same Toyota wheels.

I was so tempted to go with the graphite that most folks have tried but I didn't think it would be quite right on my rig. So I went with silver duplicolor wheel paint (2 cans of primer and just under 3 cans of silver).

Before: old black chipped painted wheels

After: Silver Duplicolor Wheel paint

Picked up 4 LX450 rims that were corroded with paint bubbling up underneath, so sanded and painstakingly taped em up, painted with rustoleum and clear coat as well

Im very happy with the finished product

I used rustoleum 'Dark Steel' for silver look on top and 'Black Night Metallic' for inner areas to get the "LX look ;)

We will see how this holds up, its not VHT wheel paint so time will tell......

Had anyone painted their LX 470 rims white? I have the Mica green color with silver/chrome-ish rims. Wondering what it would look like if the stock rims were white.
