Panoramic shot of camp at Tamarack Lake this weekend. Amazing camping spot and the road in (ie. the boulder field on the left) was a blast.

Great Thanksgiving week on Hatteras. Headed home now -- stopped halfway at Delaware Seashore State Park.

what suspension do you have? Looks great

Thanks! It's an Ironman 2" lift. Rides better than any vehicle I've ever had and does not feel lifted. The airbags give me a little bit of rake when I'm towing -- the truck handles the camper really well.

Nice! BTW - Enjoyed reading your journal article in the latest issue of Toyota Trails magazine.

Thank you! I'm excited to see it in print.

thank you

i am doing the bilstein 2inch on front next week and deciding do a 1 inch rear spacer with bilstein shock or do the rear bilstein spring - which essentially keeps the oem rake (not a big fan of)

Tried out the new (to us) camping rig over the holiday. En route:

It's warmer if you go south, right? We still found a little bit of snow.

Turns out that in AZ they have a great big hole in the ground; we camped there and hiked down into it.

Nearly 12 miles round-trip. 6yr old did great.

Because it is pretty much just a box the Intech works well for transporting gear and its amenities make for a real nice basecamp. I think the setup should be GTG for dispersed/remote camping. Sorry for fuzzy pic, kid doesn't really know how to use a phone yet.

We slept 2 on the roof, 2 in the trailer.

The site was not perfect for the tent annex but we sure were happy to have it. We put our camp chairs in there with Mr Propane Buddy heater FTW.

Trip was around 1600 miles. This setup got 12-13 mpg. It was getting 14-15 without the tent, need to look into some sort of fairing I guess. We've got that 4th Grade National Parks Pass so hope to be doing lots more of this.

Not strictly 200-camping related, but for folks sharing photos that include their kids, I'd recommend giving this a quick watch:

And this is really the tip of the iceberg of the problem.

Beuatiful shot. During covid, the "4th grade" pass was extended to 5th grader, so we used it a ton.

Question for you - always wanted to do the full grand canyon hike down. How many hours did it take to get down? Did you stay down there? How many hours to come back up?

Funny you call yours Shamu, we call our white 200 Moby-Dick lol.
Funny. Back in the 90's our family spent a year in Ireland, and we had out white 80 series shipped over for the year. It was the largest thing on the road there, and quickly earned the nickname Moby Dick for being a white whale...

The hike was Bright Angel to Indian Gardens, plus a bit to/from where we parked the truck. This is not all the way to the river, but gives some sense of being in the bottom of the hole. It is a beautiful hike, and popular. I imagine it is quite busy in high season.

Anyway, its 9 miles round-trip from the trailhead, 3000ft elevation. Our moving time on the trail was 5hrs, evenly split up/down. Overall time 7.5hrs because we stopped to eat, explore, take photos, etc.
