So it comes down to teal vs. black. Glad white goes with anything…

Um, my Slinky's are gray.....

Really happy with my Dobbie VVTs, they just net more lift than expected/ advertised. Apparently Aussies run really heavy trucks.

Same with Slinky's, they assume you are fully armored and loaded when quoting the lift it seems...

then it will really be mine!

It is truly yours after you weld on it...

Understood.

Seems like the obvious choices are both great options. I just started the convo with my CFO. It will really come down to who can do this install for me. I won’t have the bandwidth to do the suspension. I need to move my whole life to MN this summer and I’m traveling abroad this spring.

Time to pay a professional. Question is how far do I want to travel for cruiser specific folks to do the work? Everett? Boise? UT? CA? Starts getting expensive quick!

Are Slinky's available now ? They were going through rounds 3 and 4 or so of dealer and supply issues back when I got mine and the Blackhawk sway bar. And I agree with @Feldrian , shocks and springs are no biggie. You can do it in far less time than it would take to drive somewhere. You got this man.

Drive to SLC. We can install them while you visit the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum. Easy-peasy!

Am I a fool to just use paper gaskets on the thirds? I have a brand new front and rear gasket from @cruiseroutfit and a bunch of FIPG from my install kits. I read that some folks swear by both. My real word experience shows that paper only seems to work very well on this cruiser.

My surfaces are pretty darn nice. I’m eager to get this front in so it can be out of the dust that garages create.

Still contemplating FIPG and paper gaskets together.

But while I’m deciding I’ve been cleaning and prepping the knuckles. They are looking tired. The sealing surface on the back is pitted and I knocked away some rust with a small hammer. To clean up the surfaces I used small wire wheels on my Dremel tool, and brown scotch bright.

I also started soaking the front axle bearings in mineral spirits to get them ready for fresh grease.

I’m warming up inside then back at it.

This isn't Toyota... But I've never used a gasket on a diff cover or third member. Just gms(basically Toyota fipg)

We use a light layer of FIPG on each side of the paper gasket.

Ok done for the day,

Got the trunion bearing races installed and the inner oil seals on both sides.

I also got the driver side knuckle and seals all bolted on. I’m waiting on my torque wrench to move forward.

Great! All my choices are supported!

Used to spit paper gaskets out on my (abused) front axle 3rd. Took the advice to use only FIPG from Tools-R-Us many years ago and haven't had a problem since. I'd guess that FIPG on the paper would also work, but my experience has proven to me that the gasket is not necessary.

I've only used factory paper gaskets on every Toyota diff I have ever done, and I've never had an issue....

That's only a sample size of 1 and about 1,000 miles though.

I love my thread. 92% humorous banter 8% tech. Come here for comic relief and the great news that your project is going faster than mine! 🤣

Isn't that the whole point of the Internet?

Also, differentials, great ratios and shock absorbers and stuff ... Because tech.

What I’m really hoping to add is some more trip photos of the LC…which fortunately requires more trips in the LC. Solid Plan no?

Maybe my psyche needs these shenanigans so badly I self sabotage my own productivity so that I can drag it all out and commune here with you lot…just a theory.
