I'm sorry.

Let me know if you need a fuel cooler bracket. 🤣
yup. I was thinking of that. But I am inspired by your QPM organizing. It’s my goal build mine as clean.

I’m realizing this too. While I didn’t realize this when I purchased my whole gear/locker/instal parts/compressor kit, I wouldn’t change my course of action. Possibly I might have considered built thirds with lockers and sending my old o

It's a 2 part issue. Liability for warranty and $$$. My buddies shop charges labor to cover overhead. But they make zero profit. All his money is from mark up on parts. So he doesn't like doing labor only jobs.

I get this, and was told as much from the crusty shop when I called last spring--"no warranty and why did you buy gears from someplace else?" I don't want to be a huge PITA for someone. I realize that the way I purchased gears and lockers is perhaps not the typical way...but here I am. I certainly don't want to hate on shop prices--I don't feel they are unfair I just want to make sure I understand what the "market" for this work is...and I am learning a lot.

Thanks for the perspective D.

Ok I'm about to get after some underbody pressure washing to clean my rig for these projects. I'm sticking with using ramps and a short pressure washer nozzle, but maybe I should have rented a forklift...

I have a Dingo available. Shall we start a youtube journey?

Ok I visited my local Battery shop seeking information about cost/ type of battery and I am now no closer to a decision about a second battery or if I'm still goin to run a second battery. I got some basic schooling on AGM vs. LA which was largely review. My battery dude recommended against installing a second LA battery for running accessories as it really isn't designed for running accessories, so Ive ruled out spending money on another LA battery. So as I see it I have several options:
1. Upgrade my main to a larger AGM battery (Group 31). Cost is close $550-600. I know lots of folks recommend this route, and it makes a lot of sense given that I'm not currently running a fridge with the rig off.
2. Purchase a 2nd battery that is AGM and live with the chemistry difference between my start battery and aux battery)
3. purchase 2 new AGM batteries.
4. do nothing and run longer wires to QPM.

My current battery is a Deka group 27 and its less than a year old. I'm leaning heavily towards keeping it as is until I can decide I want to pony up for a new AGM or TWO new AGM batteries to essentially run couple of tiny LEDS, and a couple of USB ports. The sad thing is that I have my nifty Delta VS bracket that I just bought and a shiny new ML-ACR to join the batteries together. I predict that I will eventually run a dual battery system, but I think it will be a bit farther down the road. Id rather allocate those funds towards sliders, winches and recovery gear, and body work to weld up the roof rack holes.

So my pace remains wonderfully slow. Im savoring my build..really I am! :flipoff2:

Do we just keep going back and forth with the same quandaries ? For this one, I didn't have a battery at all, so maybe the choice was slightly easier. I did option 1 with a heaping helping of the last paragraph. I went with a group 27 X2 Power AGM. Being a "hybrid" deep cycle and providing 92Ah and 930CCA I figure it will more than meet my needs for a while as I figure out how I'm really going to use this thing. I never camp much and don't need much "house" battery, no worries, I haven't spent too much extra on a hell of a starting battery with a 5 year warranty.

BTW, in looking up the Ah rating on the X2 Power Group 27 I see that there is now a lithium version, for only $750... But it is only 80Ah and doesn't appear to be a starting battery.

Northstar AGM-27F for both main and aux is what I use in my 80. They're fairly heavy (34 kg each) but I never again will have a standard lead acid battery in the 80. Note I use the same config for both sides, not a 'reverse' for one and opposite for the other. The Northstars have been in at least 4 yrs now and trouble-free.

that’s a good vote of confidence.

If you get an agm ensure your battery tender is for an agm. Once they die they're almost impossible to save.

This is my old Northstar agm. It's maybe 6 months old. I forgot to hook my tender up and killed it.

I love my battery, but they need proper care.

Greg, keep this simple. Why do you need another battery? Did I miss an issue where you needed more power and didn’t have it?

Cross that bridge when you get to it. I say keep your relatively young lead-acid battery and enjoy the cruiser. Get your friggin lockers installed and handle one issue at a time. Dual battery set-ups are for those who wander into the wild but want to stay connected to suburbia. You want more power? Lift some weights! Put more wood on the fire! Hammer the accelerator down harder!

But seriously, get your lockers installed bro. I can’t even talk to you until your 3xlocked. ❤️

And this is why pell is my favorite.

All true. You missed that I am indeed not moving forward on a dual battery system. Why all the debate? Because I love agonizing over this s***. But honestly it was because I have this QPM and was feeling like if I'm doing all this electrical work to bring power back to the rear of the cruiser then I should figure out my future Dual battery setup...but honestly I can't seem to find a scenario in which I really need two batteries (no real room/desire for a fridge other than ice cream sandwiches 247/365 4ever.

Crap, I have a QPM too. Well it’s in the mail or whatever. I need to start researching quad battery set-ups. I’m going to set up a 6ft deep freezer in my cruiser. Kill a deer, freeze a deer. Thanks for creating more issues for me to obsess over.

Is that a big enough freezer? Might wanna roof mount one.
