Injectors are back in the cruiser!View attachment 2867192
Unfortunately the little clips that hold the connectors together have failed and broken. Their service life is shorter than their age apparently. I’m fairly sure a couple of these connections are loose enough the truck will shake them loose. I’ll try little cable ties. I did give every connection a dab of dielectric grease. They may just be kinda slippery to boot. I’m only a little frustrated. I’m currently not interested in buying and redoing all the connectors. Open to your suggestions. I obviously want to solve this before the upper intake goes on.
Buy the connectors and de-pin, then re-pin each connector.

Thee are a few threads on the injector connectors to give you the correct P/N.

They are readily available.

Also look at buying the de-pin tool from Wits' End. He may have the connectors too.

So not so much this approach?

Reading of the woes of those with disintegrating OBD1 engine harness makes me glad that I decided to replace mine back in 2015 while there were still a few left. I bet that if you got super aggressive about your search for a new harness you’d find one squirreled away somewhere.

I think I’ve seen a few, but they are spendy. But the lower harness (my NSS saga) was unobtanium.

I’ll probably just forge ahead, and replace connectors.

I have a set of housing in the garage if you wanted to try to get this done sooner, but probably not worth the drive. I think all my broke when I did my head gasket and even though I had these on hand, I was in too big of a hurry to replace them. I just plugged them in with broken clips (don't tell @BILT4ME) . I know I need to go back in and replace them just not been a priority yet.

Thats a kind offer thanks man, you keep em! Sounds like you need to get in there and take care of it eventually.

My loot from City Racer arrived, thank you @Racer65!

While I’m waiting on the connectors, I’ll torque up the valve cover, reinstall the alternator, and get the ujoints finished up.

Sorry ahead of time for the guy who wanted one for his engine and they become NLA…

No cruiser updates. I’ve been having family time, so my hand are looking pretty clean. I got my distributor o ring, sand heater control switch in the mail, so the only things I’m waiting on are the new connectors. I’ll hopefully try and get to NAPA for some hose clamps on Monday and then I’ll actually meet to start putting this stuff back together.

What’s in the cup???

I was able to order these Sumitomo 2way connectors from Ballenger Motorsports. I got a good deal and USPS priority shipping. Interestingly the connectors are all brown, not gray as shown on the site. I’m a perfuwprld I would order 3 brown and three gray as a they are on my original wiring harness. I may choose to label these, but I’m not sure that you could confuse the terminals and “misplug” them to the wrong injector. I’ll do my best to idiot proof them for my future self. Hopefully they can go on soon. My kids are out of school and family time is high on the list. Nobody but me wants to work on the LC in the 38 degree garage.

I also bought a couple of really bright 130w bulbs for my hella 700ff lights. They are the bulkier more expensive and larger version of the 500ff lights. I’m not thrilled with them. Since doing the headlight bulb upgrade, They are pretty anemic and just fill in. I am planning on using a Slee jumper harness to plug them into my high beams so I’m not fumbling with them. Honestly I will probably upgrade to something more useful in terms of light output. It already feels silly to think about 130w bulbs and their demands on my electrical system when there are many good affordable LED systems out there. It’s just low on the cost list, and there are delta control arms, rehearing, lockers, sliders, a winch, and maybe a suspension re-do on there too. I want this to be a build Thread someday!:flipoff2:

In theory the wiring should be as such that each connector only reaches one injector, right?

Correct. I believe this to be the case, but the alternating colors were a nice touch. I think it might be possible to to mix up a couple, but it would be obvious….even for me.

I did the same thing. Ordered connectors without realizing that I ordered the wrong color. But it hasn't been an issue since. I'll just label them if I have to pull the injectors again

I’m slow, someone help me understand why the injector connector color matters if they’re all the same color?

When they're alternating he knows they're hooked up right because they go 1,2,1,2,1,2

It's really hard to hook up injectors wrong though, and honestly I've never seen them anything but the same color in all the cars I've worked on.
