Very nice.

And here's a little known fact. The rear hatch lock mechanism actually has a small bit of paracord attached to the locking lever. You can route the paracord through a small hole in the access panel location (where you drilled your hole for the switch) and tie a knot so it doesn't fall behind the plastic. This will allow for the manual unlocking of the hatch (instead of electrical).

It is useless in my case though, because I have a tire carrier. :D

I saw no signs of a paracord on my 2008 fwiw

Finally getting around to mounting and wiring my switch. I mounted in the access panel which was the factory location on those equipped with the switch (parallel seat models and perhaps others). I found the OE part number for switch equipped panel but it looks to be NLA (Sunday here so I didn't give it a huge effort).

I had an OE Toyota plug connector and terminals here that fit too

I finished it off by adding a factory grab handle, the OE setup would have had a similar handle in this location.

I'll be adding a bit more detailed write up with part numbers in my build thread shortly: Project Fauxverlander 200 Series Land Cruiser Build Thread

Woah!! As a back-platform sleeper, I would LOOOOVE to do this!!! This works in your LC??

Oh man. Name your price if you can get these, and it's doable by electrical special needs folk like me!

Yup, 100% tested & functional. I got the switch from @beno and I had the connectors and terminals in stock. The grab handle is simply a factory 200 grab handle. I may assemble it as a little kit as I did grab more of the switches from Japan. If you're in a hurry, Beno had mine shipped in just a day or two.

Man, I will pre-pay you to assemble that kit with a big smile.

Serious. Would be so great. Honestly can't believe they left no way out of the back.

I too am an avid platform sleeper (or on the rokfrack. The lack of rear exit and a handle to pull the rear shut has been extremely annoying. One added bonus of the handle is that it offers a bit of protection in the even something slides into the switch.

I'll give the kit a look tomorrow. I had to use some hardware and modify the grab handle (designed to clip into sheet metal) but it's easy stuff to include and a template could be included.

Anyone else interested in a kit?

Me too kurt if you get rolling on that kit.

Me three Kurt - I'd take a kit. looks clean

Well them, even if it's not something we stock full-time I could do a one time batch of kits.

I'd definitely be interested as well Kurt! Just put in the drawers and was testing them as a platform this weekend, and I couldn't believe there wasn't even a grab handle to shut the hatch. Considering all passenger cars have been required by law to have emergency trunk releases for about 15 years now, I was disappointed to not see any option to let yourself out of the back especially considering it has a 3rd row seat!

There was none on my 2011 either.

But...when I bought a replacement switch from Toyota in 2014, it did have paracord, so sometime later on, Toyota decided to add it.

Count me in as well please!

And, if this beggar can be choosy, I'd like my grab handle in grey please - thanks!

Cool guys, I'll work on pricing for both lt.grey/sand beige

Also, I was chatting with CDan about the rear latch this morn as they have a non-op VDJ200 at the museum. You can pull the access panel, remove a screw and slide an emergency release arm (white arm in pic). Definitely not convenient or event remotely practical in an emergency not to mention putting the screw back in is a PITA.
