I had zero luck, only one button worked out of that cluster. I ripped it yesterday and they are sending me another one. If the new one isnt plug and play, I'm giving up. I can't believe there isnt a way to replace the single din tape deck and keep all OEM AC controls etc...... sad..Any luck getting this to work. I've got the same issue. Thanks.
Tucker, I can't remember, did you get this same unit and it's good? This is definitely a tinkerer’s option, pretty much like Android itself. The only other road (stock hvac controls + aftermarket HU) costs 4x and is just as involved installation wise unfortunately

Agreed....If mine only had a few minor quirks, I would have been super happy.....I’ve got the Phoenix Audio PX6 that most folks have, it’s got some quirks but overall I’m happy.

Mine are in the glove box, can't stand it. When the new unit comes and IF it works, I will be adding them to a dual USB port in the existing cigarette lighter.Has anyone mounted the usb ports in the center console or other area? Can you post pictures of where and how you mounted the two usb's that came with the unit?
I've read here that some have routed these to the glove box but looked like they were just dangling around in there. Want to see who has mounted this permanently somewhere in the truck.
Correction: if you lost/do not have your master key (Toyota 89786-60170?) there is no way to program any keys. The dealer will not help you. Looks like w/o master key the only option is to replace ECU with the new matching master key. You have to verify it with dealer. Not sure I understood the question.
The key has transponder and remote.
You need TS software with OBD cable (or dealer-stealer) to register new transponder with ECU. To re-connect remote there is a sequence of actions so the key re-synch with body control.
Dealer will require VIN and proof of ownership to make a new key. If you lost last master key, it’s slightly different story, although dealer does not need master key (pretty sure).
The security light is just an indicator. Most (if not all) PX6 units retain the light.
My personal experience: crutchfield support sux! Phoenix is not worse, at least. Again, speaking from my personal point of view. This thread is a discussion and technical thread for folks who are interested in these units, please post opinions otherwise in another thread. These are clearly not plug and play for non-tinkerers, I’m glad you’re happy with your Bluetooth addition.
I’d recommend the Phoenix PX6, it has the biggest following and technical support. Keep in mind these are Chinese and the paths were blazed there and in Russia. Not gonna be crutchfield level support
There is a great thread by several others on retrofitting stock controls and an aftermarket HU, you should read up and make the best decision for yourself![]()
I've had the Phoenix radio installed for about a year now and I have only recently noticed an issue. All A/C controls work including the physical buttons, however changing the airflow position does nothing. It doesn't matter if it is set for foot vents, dash vents, or defrost, air only come out of the dash vents. I can press the button and the icons cycle and light up as expected however there is no change to the airflow out of the dash vents.
I realize this could be a mechanic issue but I was hoping someone here had and hopefully fixed a similar issue.
Hi all. I’ve been a lurker on this site for a couple of years and picked up a lot of good tips. Thanks to this who post a lot. On this topic, I have an 07 LC and the NAV unit went toes up. Turns out you really do need a defroster in NH. I picked up an X6 from Rhino Radio. I’m a tinkerer, but after reading this and other threads I chickened out on this job. Jim at Capital Car Audio in Epson NH had never installed one of these particular units, but was willing to give it a try (knowing that there would be some fooling around with it). Granted I only picked it up yesterday and I’m still getter used to it, but so far it is working as advertised. I connects to my iPhone seamlessly and I now have useful NAV, phone and can play music and podcasts as if on my phone. …and I have heat…which is good, because it was below zero when I fire the truck up this morning. Given the mating of old and new, I’ll expect to have to tinker with it and won’t be surprised if I need a trip or two back to Jim, but so far so good. Thanks for being willing to tackle it Jim!This is definitely a tinkerer’s option, pretty much like Android itself. Can you please, give a little bit more details on your install? Did you keep backup camera? Did you use OEM amplifier? Everything functional?Hi all.
