High Geekspeakinese
Operational Amplifier - An analog computational operation. A general purpose linear gain block element, programmable by passive external circuit elements such as resistors, capacitors, and inductors. Commonly available since the early 1970s as a small inexpensive integrated circuit.
Gain - Multiplicative translation factor from input to output, as in Vout = Vin * G
Offset - Additive translation factor from input to output, as in Vout = Vin + Voffset.

p.s. Your stereo amplifier is a big badass op-amp. 2 of 'em, actually.

should've probably fielded some responses b4 clicking *buy*, but is this straight up plug and play on a bone stock '97? quality as good or better than oem?

i've got a new oem intake tube, 1 of 2 o2 oem sensor, 2 of 2 denso o2 since oem is nla in the truck ready to install. just thought i'd get it all done one shot.

thank u!

it will bolt right in where the stock MAF sensor does and connect through the same stock air tube and work seemlessly with all OEM sensors in the engine management system.

That said, it's an aluminum housing that uses a newer style sensor with the same connector as your 97 OEM sensor but the wiring to that plug needs to be rearranged to work properly with the newer style sensor used.

install tip: move the metal bracket on the side of the OEM MAF that supports the cruise control cable to the new housing prior to installing the new housing into the filter cover. This will help align all the bolt holes.

So... Is this a recommended upgrade for those with a TRD supercharger? Are there two versions out there? One offered by @NLXTCY and one offered by @landtank? Interested... Just need to know who to purchase from for a supercharger application. Thanks.

Eventually it will all be thru me. The SC version only a small amount were made and I think all are now accounted for. That info will be used for support of a larger run.

Got my missing parts from LT today and I installed the new Gen IV MAF on my super charged 80. I talked with Rick on the phone and he said that the Gen IV would work just fine with the SC. I'm gonna run it and see what it does, Not sure if I will upgrade further to the one with bigger injectors.
Im gonna see what this does with the 3.0 and later with the 2.8 pulley on my Water to Air Intercooled Super Charger.
Should be fun!

Got mine installed today along with a new OEM intake tube, one OEM O2 sensor, and one Denso O2 sensor. No issues driving the 1:20 from East LA to Venice 5PM traffic. I had some transient stumbling or vibration in the engine which you could easily feel seat of pants once in a blue moon sitting at lights. Otherwise, no symptoms. Maybe this will get rid of it?

The og MAF looks like a mini F1 wind tunnel inside. I guess they don't make 'em like they used to made in '90s jpn style.

Thanks to Wits' End for making it easy to source these things. We really need more nuanced aftermarket vendors developing quality products for the FZJ80 akin to the air-cooled Porsche ecosystem. I'm all for supporting LT, WE and future LTs and WEs.

Vamos!

How'd yours fair with s/c?
I've been in touch with Rick too. Just ordered mine today for my '96 s/c (Order #9068 waiting shipping). Any pics you can share?
Any real differences getting it fitted?

I really did not notice any difference, but with a SC i really didnt expect any. I did the conversion more for future proofing, a 30.00 MAF sensor vs a 700.00 (new) hard to source one. I just did a trip to Stanley and back (Idaho) but have not filled the tanks yet so not sure on the MPG gain, if any.
I have noticed a hard to start situation (twice) that was not happening before the swap but I am giving it time to sync in before judgment.

I just ordered my 2.8 pulley, should be installed Thursday! This I am looking forward to!

Got the MAF IV in now and running very well. No more codes tripped now from the cracked OEM housing. I still need to replace the cracked 3.5-to-3" coupler hose on SC but trimmed off the cracked area so sits flush against the MAF housing - works for now.

I'm very pleased with it all and at half the cost of the OEM MAF (that was hard to find anyhow) - this seems like a much better option either way.

Can't say I would have noticed any improvement so may be placebo effect - but from start and then 1st to 2nd it does seems smoother, better 'Tip-in Throttle" I guess. Will be checking MPG to see improvements.

I'll likely do the SC MAF version if available and timed with my soon to be SC rebuild.

Thank you to Landtank and WI.

The 2.8 is the Holy Grail as far as performance with my 7K lb beast. It moved the boost sooner in the throttle range and increased torque sooner as well. I also hear the SC under load now and really had to listen for it with the 3.25 and 3.0 pulleys.
I am seeing 7 lbs boost on my gauge (not 8) as the WAIC core is restricting 1 lb of boost. But 7 lbs of cooled air is way better than 8 lbs heated by the SC!
IF the numbers can be believed I should be seeing 300 HP at this point and 380 Flbs of torque.
