Right now I'm in the testing phase of the project. My truck was bought used and has over 300k on it and with the engine running and when applying the brakes there is a noticeable amount of movement in the soft lines. This translates to a soft pedal feel and those old lines need to be replaced. If anyone reading this has a soft pedal you might try this check and pay close attention to the two front hoses going to the calipers with the wheels pointing straight ahead.

Thank you for the updated info. I'm poised when ready. I'll relook at my lines as well. I was considering purchasing the 2-4 inch lift soft lines or the stainless lines as part of the caliper, rotor and pad upgrade. For now I just need to get it past VA safety inspection and will enhance after since its rarely driven. Perhaps just pads and lines for now.

Will be purchasing once the kit is ready. I really like the 80's stock wheels & in humble opinion are one of the cleanest looking OEM wheels out there. Great work guys!

So ordered up the factory soft lines and there is a part number change to the front hoses. Based on the rear hoses I got and still have the old part numbers the hose itself has changed. Old hose is marked DOT 1/8 while the new hose has metric dimensions and some supplier named TOYODA.
Part number for the front hoses is now 90947-02A16, first time I've seen it.

Hoses installed, bled and braking has improved and the hose deflection during application is gone.

I have one more thing to investigate before releasing.

Very nice job guys. This is the 2nd post I've read about major brake improvements and now I REALLY want to kick a kitten into a fan as I literally JUST finished swapping out 4x rotors and 4x calipers with OEM Toyota parts for $1000. Missed seeing this thread by 1 week!

I'm planning a 17" wheel upgrade once my tires wear down so I'll most likely move towards the 200-series rotors/4-runner calipers/machined hubs with the slip-fit solution posted elsewhere. If I don't go that route, this is definitely on my list...after the turbo of course.

It's so nice to have some decent brake upgrade options!

So does this kit involve all 4 rotors and calipers? I only see reference to fronts. I am interested, regardless. :)

Hows this going, are you getting closer? ;)

Interesting
