OK so the list of who is going so far (correct me if I'm wrong):

cruiserruf
Bluto
hawkeye
fj80toyman (AM)
igc (from TTORA Socal forum)

Maybe a couple FJC guys
NLXTACY (possibly)

I'll PM my contact info to you guys this week so you can be in touch!

-Phil

may try to join you guys if work allows...

Sorry to hear this! What do you do for a living? Maybe I can give you some contacts...

Just a quick update don't want to Hi-Jack... Still working, but two others in my dept. are getting cut this Thursday and so far my name is not on the list so hopefully I have a few more weeks I can fly below the radar! I do CAD Drafting. But in 3 weeks I am going to take a REVIT class and learn that new program hopefully before I have to look for another job.

If I do come, it'll be through Eastbound 126 ending near Castaic, so may need to meet up in Gorman.

But don't make plans on my account, still not a sure thing...

So, anybody in the pack will have a 2m/440 rig in case I need to catch up?

I'd strongly suggest you go see some of the trails W of Gorman if open, nice mountains with trees (where not burned)...

...DO it, Just Do it.

I'll be on 2m, call it 146.460 Simplex for the day (?)

don't think a CB channel's been designated yet, say... 5?

still confirming plans, but I have great hopes!

We may hit those after... I believe they are open... are you referring to the trails around the Pine Mountain club?

I am going to try and join you guys too. It looks like I can clear my day. So is everyone just meeting at Gorman or is there a hook up spot?

haven't done those yet. Hatman could tell you, I'm sure.
I've done Miller, BC109 etc on Lockwood Valley Rd, though.
But any of these is a half-day +.

If there are folks coming from all different directions, I'd suggest you set also a time to meet at the practice area in the OHV, where people can fool around while waiting.

Hate to hijack this thread as well - but go for the REVIT training. I just had my CAD guys go through it. It is the future for CAD.

PM me what type of CAD you do. I work for a Fire Protection Engineering firm and have some connections in the local ARCH/MEP design community.

Meet at 8:30AM at the Chevron in Mission Hills (where the 405 and 118 meet). 10701 Sepulveda Blvd. Mission Hills, CA 91345 (corner of Sepulveda and Chatsworth). We can all drive up together (about 50min - 1hr to Gorman). Hit Pronghorn in the AM and then maybe some more trails in the OHV after that (I've got a trail guide that covers many of the trails in the OHV). I know not everyone will be staying all day, but if we get bored in the OHV there are some other nice trails close by in Frazier Park/Pine Mountain.

Here's the blurb on Pronghorn (California Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails by Charles A. Wells):
Difficulty: Moderate. Narrow, tippy and steep in places. No long vehicles (NOTE: "long" in this book generally refers to a quad-cab F250 :)).

Time & Distance:
12.7 mi. Allow 1-2 hours plus time for side trips.

I have never run this trail before but it seems pretty moderate from what I've read about it... I'm not in for body damage so if we get to a point where someone isn't comfortable, we can just turn around and head back... there is PLENTY to do in Hungry Valley.

I agree. There might be some last minute decisions to go and never posted.

Phil, do you want to make the practice area the final meeting place? 0930 AM time - 45 minutes away from the 0830 Mission Hills meet place?

Ill be at the Castaic McDonalds at 0845 AM 5 north of Magic Mtn - which you guys have to go thru. Ill listen in on CB channel 25 if you want to make a run by and Ill meet you up the freeway or catch up whichever happens.

Yes... lets say 9:30 we'll leave the practice area. That should be plenty of time to get there. We'll plan to be on 25 and anyone can hit us up on that later on. I'll PM my cell # to you guys tonite when I get home, just as added protection :)

Make that 9:30 we leave the practice area... I read Bluto's post wrong... 9:30AM will be fine.

That sounds good. I'm may bring a 4xnewbie with me in a stock Taco, so who knows if I'm on time.

I'll either see you all at the McDonalds, or at the practice area. That's a good place to warm up, especially for newb. We might even go early to get a little more practice time for him :)

I'll be on 146.460 simplex or CB25.
