Last year I rebuilt my entire front axle. All new gears, seals, bearings, brakes, springs... The works. Last weekend (on a particularly gnarly section of trail) the upper knuckle bearing on the driver's side completely let go. I tore it down on Saturday and everything looks perfect except for pulling that bearing out of the axle housing 1 piece at a time. I have been to all 3 local parts stores and 2 of them actually had one in stock. They were both wrong. The diameter is correct but mine have more of a taper to them. Does anyone have a Timken or National part number for these bearings? I don't want to buy a complete knuckle service kit when I only need one bearing...

Here are the Koyo numbers that can be cross-referenced:

Race: TR0305A

BEARING: TR0305A

Toyota part number: 90366-17001-77

They should come paired (race and bearing).

Get the Koyo or Toyota. The Timken do not have the correct profile. That may have been why your other ones failed. I think Kurt at cruiseroutfitters.com sells them individually.

Sweet. Thanks guys.

Well cruiseroutfitters didn't have any single bearings so I ordered the Toyota 90366-17001-77 from toyotapartszone.com hopefully it gets here by the end of the week so I can play this weekend.

Dude R (@rmblaire)... you be forgetting about Georg in Stockton... Actually had I seen this earlier I have a spare sitting on my shelf that I could have gotten you from my full rebuild kit. I never dug into the drivers side that far because everything was good (no leak on that side) and I was just replacing the rotor and studs.

Well Crap! I was surprised how difficult it was to find a single bearing... Oh well, lesson learned. I think I will start saving for the trunnion eliminator kit.

LOL... you should know to look towards the club first, if nothing else I think we all have Georg's number on speed dial and he usually answers even on his days off. He has most everything in stock and is willing to throw in the mail or you can always take a quick drive to his shop (I say the drive is quick because you usually end us spending lots of time looking at all the trucks in the shop and shooting the s***.).

Trunnion eliminator kit is an expensive solution for a problem that doesn't exist. Running the proper Hi-capacity bearing, even with SOA and 35s should be ok.

Next time buy from BENO. He ships faster and cheaper than the others.

Or, if you're in a pickle, there's prolly more than one of us who has a box full of old good trail-spare bearings that would send you one for the price of cheap postage....

I'm still kicking myself in the ass for not keeping the old ones when I did the rebuild...

Yeah, I keep everything that's serviceable, but then you have to be immune to the complaints of the :princess: . I've been vaccinated.

Sorry we were out of the loose Koyo bearings... as a matter of fact they are actually arriving tomorrow, too late for your needs but I'll have 1000+ of them here soon. :(

I'll second the recommendations to stick with Koyo (Toyota is also Koyo) as they have the proper thrust angle for axial loads versus radial loads that the equivalent Timken is designed for. The Toyota one is a few bucks more but hopefully they can have it to you ASAP. If you get in a bind and they have not shipped by tomorrow, I'm 100% confident we can get one shipped by tomorrow afternoon for delivery Friday in NV.

Trunion bearings are one of the things I keep in my truck as spares. They are rare to fail, but one of the more important things if they do ;)
